I worked on the 2020 Census...conducted by the US Census Bureau which is part of the Treasury Dept. Because of the virus we received a 2 hour webinar...nothing more. My boss,who was a full time Census Bureau employee for 30+ years,told me that in the past people for my position got 2 full days of classroom instruction to prepare.

We went out into the field pretty much clueless. Luckily my boss understood the situation and was helpful to me.I was even offered a full time job with the Bureau...but it required me to move to Regional Headquarters in NYC...telecommuting not allowed.

That seems to be the norm across all industries today.

Many years ago, I had to train new employees at two different companies. I had to write up the training materials and train them myself.

Now, it seems, new employees are expected to learn as they go.

At most, they might watch some videos for their training, including "active shooter" videos - run, hide, fight.

It's frightening to think Homeland Security agents, re-assigned to protect a POTUS, receive only two hours in video training, too.
