Yeah, basically the receiver starts as one big chunk of steel and they drill it or hone it it out into the actual receiver. The drawback of it is its noticeably heavier than an AK that’s made out of stamped steel, but from my understanding one that is made in the honed steel process, can fire for a lot longer without jamming because the steel does not expand with the heat as much as stamped steel
If the term honed is incorrect, I apologize that’s just the term that I heard used when a first sergeant held two separate AK up to me Talked about the difference between the stamped and what he called the hone one. And it was noticeable difference
There is just no way to reload a bull pup without taking the weapon off your shoulder, losing your sight picture and taking additional time versus on an AR platform where you can literally keep the weapon at the ready drop a magazine and slap a new one in a second
thx,
I thought it was stamped or milled
MILLED. That is the word
Not honed. You are right
Yeah, sure - if you have an ammo truck nearby.
The young ladies, maybe.
Catastrophic failure blows out the action and the face pressed against it.
I have several piston AR’s. Still prefer direct impingement but the piston ARs run great and stay super clean. No shitting where they eat! It’s an easy conversion to do at home if you have a vice, punch and barrel nut tool. Just get a YouTube vid and follow along.
A shame no one has come up with a “PAM” type spray to prevent all that carbon from sticking. Too hot I suspect.
Have found the “CLR” cleaners are good at cutting through the crap.
Nonsense.
You don’t even have to come off target to reload a Tavor.

Watch here at 1:15. Completely a false statement.

Maybe the tover or whatever is the best thing since sliced bread but this is the bull pup I carried for 30 days and it sucked

Styre aug sucks too
lol. It’s awkward
If Sig made a cell phone it would weigh 3 pounds.
“Plenty of anecdotal evidence that the 5.56 cartridge is way underpowered in the combat arena.”

Scroll through these. It’s one nasty weapon.
5 rounds in the chest and they keep coming. I heard that sea story. Like all sea stories, it started with “No shit, there I was, thought I was gonna die...”
The wounds at the article at the link are horrific but keep in mind that those 60 who died in the Las Vegas shooting were among 400+ that had been shot. As expected for civilians at an entertainment venue, none were wearing helmets or body armor.
The 5.56 is underpowered in the combat arena. Combat in Afghanistan exposed the limitations of the 5.56 and led to a return to the 7.62 with the Mk14 Enhanced Battle Rifle, the M39 Enhanced Marksman Rifle, and the M110 Semi Automatic Sniper System. Some of the transition to 7.62 was for lethality at greater distances but the prevalence of inexpensive body armor also increased the need for a more powerful round.
There is also the issue of firing into vehicles or through doors which were not common in Vietnam, but was common in Iraq.
I have shot deer with mine. The damage done is very fatal.
People who tell me it is not have never butchered a animal shot with one.
I think Kel-tec has one that ejects downward, they bill it as ambidextrous. Never saw it in real life, so who knows.
