Not bad for a man they say was senile that year. These days you won’t find words like “destitute” rolling off a politician’s tongue. I’m going to try that one today, ask a few people what it means. “I heard the President say our entire generation will soon be destitute. What did he mean, ya think?”
Ain’t that the truth.

Reagan was the most erudite, common man President in my lifetime (since 1970, small sample size).
Many of us remember him well. At the time he was President, I was in full-on yayhoo college student mode, and ridiculed him. Shortly thereafter, I came to realize my error(s), and saw him for what he in fact was: the greatest President I would ever see. Check out “Reagan, in his own hand” a wonderful book that provides unique insight to his style of thinking. He thought deeply, and acted boldly. I regularly wear my “Reagan as Che” T-shirt around town on weekends, and almost every time, get a very positive comment from someone. I has sparked some great conversations, too, that give me hope. A few mean-faced liberals with pony-tails and Birkenstocks have expressed disapproval, too, but uniformly supportive responses. I’m wearing it at the moment, and will soon be heading to the hardware store...
