Watch the video. I’m not sure how widespread this is.

It could be everywhere but China does not mind, I think.
To continue to economically develop, they are willing to allow the people to go bankrupt and start over and rebuild. They will eat every dollar that disappears.

I don’t know if the government can survive without going back to the days of Mao, however. That’s unknown to me if even the government of China can survive that.

Thank you for posting this. Only at FR do I ever get obscure intel like this.

If this is a problem found throughout chinaville, there’s going to be trouble.

I’m no expert, but as I understand it, China’s demographics are now very lop-sided. They have (relatively) many old people. And old people need to be taken care of — they use resources but mostly do not contribute labor to the economy. And China has (relatively) few young people. Young people work and consume. They grow the economy by contributing their labor and by buying goods and paying taxes. Those vital activities are not being done enough to keep the Chinese economy growing.

One line of thought had been — kill off the old people who consume but do not contribute. Some thought that this was what COVID was designed for.

But what the video shows is that young workers, upon whom China really depends, are getting totally screwed and are now working without pay. This adds to the recent Chinese phenomenon of young people feeling that there is no point to working and they join the “quiet quitting” cadre. So, to have ACTUAL workers getting screwed by the system seems like the very worst thing that could be happening.

And Xi is old. Once he dies, China may implode — they have no one in place to continue the regime. Political and economic chaos seem likely. And, no, under the circumstances I do NOT expect China to think that a war would suddenly be a great idea that would solve their problems.
