Interesting Emerson national polls yesterday which highlighted Dem quandary:

• Trump leads Biden 46-43
• Trump leads Harris 49-43, so 3% leave others when she is nominee, but Dens have solid 43 with either Biden or her
• Newsom loses 3 of those 43, 40-48, assume they are the black women who won’t support a young white male usurping a black woman’s place in line.
• Whitmer does even worse, 38-48, losing both the women and some men apparently.
• And Obama can’t or won’t run to play off the name nostalgia, so she says, certainly not if Biden stays in until November

My non-expert nightmare take is that Biden stays in but replaces Harris on the ticket with Michelle. That solves the loss of black women vote and allows those who pine for the Obama nostalgia (phony as it is!) to vote D knowing they are really voting for Michelle as Biden won’t / can’t last long as POTUS. The press would go crazy supporting this and the non-engaged WalMart voters would see it as historic. There is certainly precedent for Presidents changing VPs upon their re-election so no one would batt an eye. God help the Republic!!
