“rats would need a two minute huddle after every question before submitting a unanimously voted on answer. And even then, potato would likely screw up the delivery.”

It would go something like this (remember the proposal is everyone will be miked.)

Q. - Mr. President, will you draw down the strategic petroleum stockpile to ensure your election?

You then hear the secretary of transportation say to the president: quote my staff has told me I can’t answer that question or I will get into trouble unquote.

President Biden then turns to the questioner and says: quote my staff has told me I can’t answer that question or I will get into trouble unquote.

That should go over real well.

I’m very happy to debate on a computer forum, but I realize my real time verbal skills are definitely second-rate.

Lawyers can get high hourly fees because it is a rare skill to be able to argue well in real time on one’s feet.

In this era of AI they can superimpose a mouth over Joe’s and have his AI produced words of his own answer the questions but it won’t be him speaking in real time. I shouldn’t give them ideas.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Lawrence has just admitted Biden is too feeble of mind to know what his own policies are.

I would agree, on the condition that they dress like the Easter Bunny.

Excellent! That’ll make the citizens of this country feel safe and secure knowing the President needs staff on stage to catch him if he falls, to show him the way off the stage, to distract him when he starts to stare into space or go off on some unintelligible nonsense, yeah, that’s the ticket, GO FOR IT. Let the suck up deniers see it live and in their face.

Yup, that was fun... I remember Larry when he used to sit on the Mclaughlin group and John would always shout to Larry... WRONG!

1945 Labour Party Manifesto

“The nation wants food, work and homes. It wants more than that - it wants good food in plenty, useful work for all, and comfortable, labour - saving homes that take full advantage of the resources of modern science and productive industry. It wants a high and rising standard of living, security for all against a rainy day, an educational system that will give every boy and girl a chance to develop the best that is in them.

“These are the aims. In themselves they are no more than words. All parties may declare that in principle they agree with them. But the test of a political programme is whether it is sufficiently in earnest about the objectives to adopt the means needed to realise them. It is very easy to set out a list of aims. What matters is whether it is backed up by a genuine workmanlike plan conceived without regard to sectional vested interests and carried through.”

“Everybody says that we must have houses. Only the Labour Party is ready to take the necessary steps - a full programme of land planning and drastic action to ensure an efficient building industry that will neither burden the community with a crippling financial load nor impose bad conditions and heavy unemployment on its workpeople. There must be no restrictive price rings to keep up prices and bleed the taxpayer, the owner-occupier and the tenant alike. Modern methods, modern materials will have to be the order of the day.”

“Labour’s pledge is firm and direct - it will proceed with a housing programme with the maximum practical speed until every family in this island has a good standard of accommodation.”

Quotes:

We have taken the farmers off the road to ruin. We have kept our pledge to agriculture to use all available means to raise farm income toward its pre-war purchasing power. The farmer is no longer suffering from 15-cent corn, 3-cent hogs, 2 1/2-cent beef at the farm, 5-cent wool, 30-cent wheat, 5-cent cotton, and 8-cent sugar.

By Federal legislation, we have reduced the farmer’s indebtedness and doubled his net income. In cooperation with the States and through the varmers’ own committees, we are restoring the fertility of his land and checking the erosion of his soil. We are bringing electricity and good roads to his home.

We will continue to improve the soil conservation and domestic allotment program with payments to farmers.

We will continue a fair-minded administration of agricultural laws, quick to recognize and meet new problems and conditions. We recognize the gravity of the evils of farm tenancy, and we pledge the full cooperation of the Government in the refinancing of farm indebtedness at the lowest possible rates of interest and over a long term of years.

We favor the production of all the market will absorb, both at home and abroad, plus a reserve supply sufficient to insure fair prices to consumers; we favor judicious commodity loans on seasonal surpluses; and we favor assistance within Federal authority to enable farmers to adjust and balance production with demand, at a fair profit to the farmers.

We favor encouragement of sound, practical farm co-operatives.

By the purchase and retirement of ten million acres of sub-marginal land, and assistance to those attempting to eke out an existence upon it, we have made a good beginning toward proper land use and rural rehabilitation.

The farmer has been returned to the road to freedom and prosperity. We will keep him on that road.

Since Jill and Hunter seem to be in control now, the next debate should have two on each side—Jill and Hunter for the Democrat side, and Eric and Don Jr. for the Republican side.
