‘In denial’: Democrats livid that Biden is digging in
Politico ^ | 07/05/2024 11:20 PM EDT | MYAH WARD, Et al.

President Joe Biden’s first televised interview since last week’s debate meltdown did little to stop the bleeding.

Members of Congress and top Democratic operatives told POLITICO shortly after Biden’s sit down with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos aired that the president was more energetic and forceful than he was on stage during last week’s showdown with Donald Trump — but it likely won’t be enough to tame the panic.

And many were shocked by the president’s blatant denial about his standing in the race, and his repeated dismissal of his party’s widespread concerns. It’s an approach some Democrats described as “dangerous.”

“He was more animated and made a strong case for what he has done. But the question the debate raised is about his fitness for the next four years, not his performance in the past four years,” said David Axelrod, the longtime Democratic operative who helped lead Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns. “And he simply doesn’t acknowledge that concern. He also is in denial about where he is in this race.”

A House Democrat, granted anonymity to speak candidly, said: “Denial of the problem is not a solution or a path forward to convincing our constituents that he has the capacity or the vision for four more years.”

And another Democratic operative who has advised the White House called the interview a “stay of execution” but added that the president’s “acceptance of losing to Trump as long as he tried his best will make his hand significantly worse with every Democratic office holder who does not want to lose their seat.”

You could well be right. Biden digging his heels in IS the smart move for the Bidens. They can hold the Democrats to ransom and they know it.

...it appears Biden's team “isn't being straight with him..."

One of the great understatements in American political history. Biden's ego and infirmity made him a tool in the hands of a modern-day "Becky Sharp" and a ruthless political machine that wants to ditch him.

They are not shocked because they knew all along. They are panicked that Biden has been outed.

Astute observation. The Biden organized crime family is holding the DNC hostage. Extortion is their game. 🍿💰

“I don’t think the dementia is causing him to dig in his heels. I think this is how he has always been. He’s a narcissist and weirdly egocentric.”

Just “Joe being Joe.”

“I’ll drop out if God tells me to.”

ZOT!!!

But please, not yet, let this fool eat up the clock. I wanna see another unforgettable convention in my lifetime.

Remember the 2020 convention? They had concertina wire and all kinds of security measures and I guess it was to protect themselves from themselves. Nevertheless, it was very telling.

My middle sister did the same thing with mom, I was away in the military but she moved in and took really good care of her and yes the keys are always a problem. It takes a special kind of soul to step up to the plate like you did and like my sister did.

My brother and his wife (and three sons) moved in with Mom for the last 10 years of her life. From age 90 to 95, it was pretty tolerable, but 95 to almost 100 she was a handful, and irrational about many things. In a lot of ways, her mind was sharp as a tack, but personality-wise ... pretty bad. They sacrificed so much.

So what happens at the convention when he has the delegates sown up and they dump him? Is that even possible? It was my understanding that the delegates in the states he won are dedicated to his nomination. Can they change their minds?

What happens when Biden goes full on cuckoo and starts launching missiles on US citizens. Will the military blindly obey orders?

Kamala will step in before the election and we will have to endure the media makeover, the repackaging of her, and the likelihood that most Americans want to believe in the stability of the government, and its processes. People will hope for the best and be thankful there was an orderly transfer of power.
Just like the Axis nations in 1945. Defeat is momentarily bitter, then it’s a huge relief.
Come November, the Dems will cheat if they have to, and people will suck that up too.
Bleak, and that’s not even factoring in WW3 by the emboldened Chinese and Russian govts.
Elections have consequences.

The idea would be Oscar Wilde’s the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about. Or PT Barnum’s no such thing as bad publicity.

He is dominating the media and his noble talk is getting focus.
