WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden will sit Friday for his first televised interview since his disastrous debate performance last week, one that could be crucial in determining whether he can salvage his embattled candidacy.
The interview with anchor George Stephanopoulos of ABC News is shaping up to be one of the most high-stakes moments for a president or a candidate in many years. Democratic elected officials, donors and voters will be closely watching to see whether he can still deliver in an adversarial setting and turn in a performance worthy of being the party’s nominee to defeat Donald Trump this fall.
The interview will “air in its entirety as a primetime special” at 8 p.m. ET Friday, ABC said, adding that a “transcript of the unedited interview will be made available the same day.”
The White House said it has “some flexibility” around the length of the sit-down but “no exact estimate” of the duration of the conversation.
Earlier in the day, Biden is expected to speak at a campaign rally in Madison, Wisconsin. The White House said the interview team from ABC “will be with us all day in Wisconsin” and able to cover the rally event and to observe the president as he participates in his schedule.
The big questions on many Democrats’ minds are: Were the frailty and incoherence he exhibited at the debate anomalies, or have they become common occurrences for Biden? Can he still mount a vigorous campaign with a reasonable chance of defeating Trump? And if not, would Democrats be better off if Biden stepped aside for a replacement candidate — most likely Vice President Kamala Harris — to be nominated at next month’s convention?

Recorded and edited
But he will look sharp as a tack I bet.
If its not live, its a scam.
Ally, recorded, edit, motivated to make Biden look healthy and in control. Else, an insider setup to push him out the door.
will georgie the king maker, pass up this opportunity to be the most powerful man in the democratic party?
hehehe, where’s my popcorn?
I’m not sure. I think NBC’s description of ABC News as an ‘adversarial setting’ is laughable - that being said, I think Georgie might deliberately sink him. Dims are very nervous right now...
This thing will be edited and patched together so many times they’ll probably wear clean through the tape.
Could be either.. I agree. Perhaps they believe that no much how lipstick they put on this pig, it’ll still be a pig... so the goal now is to sink his campaign.
Softball questions to a soft headed moron from a soft headed moron. Not a lot to see here folks...
If Biden can't ace this gimme it's over.
“donors and voters will be closely watching to see whether he can still deliver in an adversarial setting”
Adversarial? Lol.
“.. no matter how much lipstick...>>>
Yeah... that word ‘adversarial’ jumped out at me too. We truly are in an Orwellian age.
agree...it has to be live....AND.....prime time
I’ve heard rumors the interview will only last 15-20 minutes after editing. I’m sure that’s wrong.
Snip, snip, snip, snip. The editors are going to have a real workout.
Snuffleupagus is beholden to HillBill only
He just may sink Joe
any one of us...you don’y have to be a doctor....can tell...it is not an anomaly...he’s old and sick.
An ABC propaganda piece put on by none other than the Left’s supreme media apparatchik Stephanopoulos. They even admit in advance to cutting and editing the piece for effect.
The interview was recorded earlier this week and was pushed on the network by the campaign to air Friday (today). It was supposed to air this coming Sunday but the campaign panicked. This info was in discussions and postings which appeared on FR yesterday. Not sure why it was not disclosed in the above article except to state the source is most likely trying to mis-lead the public yet again.
