You tell me, sure eggs are three bucks a dozen but the price of computers has dropped by fifty bucks and I will tell you that I do not buy two dozen computers every week.
Likewise with housing and energy. I still have to turn on the lights and cook my eggs. There is no choice in the matter while there is choice about buying a new handbag.
First of all, inflation has not dropped. And even if the rate of inflation has slowed, people don’t care. All that means is that prices are permanently at the new insane highs.
People want a roll back. They won’t get it, and will remain angry.
FJB.
“”You know, I don’t think anyone knows, has a definitive answer why people are not as happy about the economy as they might be.”
-Jerome Powell 6/12/2024
Because prices are WAY higher than before dumbass. All of your charts and sophistry that inflation has slowed, that unemployment is very low are meaningless.
Regular people see that as “high prices are locked in now”, and “We all get two part time jobs”.
“We accept that absolute prices are much higher today than a few years ago, but we also acknowledge that, in general, wages are higher as well. Just like we can’t realistically compare a 15-cent McDonald’s hamburger to a $3.00 one today, we should be careful comparing prices today to their prices a few years ago.”
Total horsecrap. The basic hamburger there that was 15 cents is now 2.99 at the least.
The above is a steaming pile of BS.
I do not believe she buys her own grocery’s.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen gives unbelievable response when asked if she goes grocery shopping and if she has felt ‘sticker shock’
Grocery prices are up double digits percent under Biden as Americans struggle
Yellen - who is worth $20 million - said she goes to the grocery store ‘every week’
She claims she doesn’t feel any sticker shock due to inflation

The high prices are still hurting people. The idea that they are supposed to be relieved that the prices aren’t going higher even faster than ever is cold comfort.
Our electricity which is on a fixed month to month just went up $150 per month. Our water bill just doubled. Went to Walmart yesterday and a medium sized chuck roast was almost $30. They can talk about inflation being under control all they want. My wallet is deflated.
Exactly!
They doing some games, and, to be true, the stuff like electronics did not went up that much!
Tesla is even going down!
But, that is the problem. The stuff people do not need may not be going up that much, but the stuff people really need, like food, are just skyrocketing!
If they select the basket of goodies to measure inflation they way, they may even get the “right” results.
The very rich may feel OK, but the real people are suffering. Actually the standard thing during democratic rules.
$30 for a chuck roast? All the beef at Walmart was super high. We just looked at it, shrugged and walked off. We bought some cheap lunch meat, tuna, and canned chicken. I just refuse to pay what they want for beef. And I’m sick of chicken. Ugh.
