A massive wildfire just outside Los Angeles, California, has spread to 12,265 acres and was only two percent contained on Sunday afternoon.

The Post Fire is moving towards Hungry Valley Park, where California State Park Services have evacuated approximately 1,200 people.

Evacuation warnings have also been issued south of Pyramid Lake between Old Ridge Route and the Los Angeles County line, which includes Paradise Ranch Estate.

My uncle had a place near Ojai. The state condemned it for a park. He got screwed and the property no longer contributes to tax dollars.

Sounds like the Kelo decision, hailed by the Left, in which a woman unsuccessfully sued to keep her home in New London, Conn. She was forced to sell it under eminent domain because the city wanted to demolish it as part of a redevelopment project. After her home was demolished, the redevelopment agency ran out of money and the project was abandoned. It is now a vacant lot, providing zero tax revenues for the city.

They do not have wild fires in California anymore.

All the wild fires are arson.

Strange, though...

The state has had above average rain and snow fall the last two years, but I do not know about specific areas, like Los Angeles.

Maybe arson, plus very dry gusty winds?

>a great fire which swept them off about a dozen years before

THAT part of CA goes through a ~12 year chapparal cycle which always ends in a burn. Otherwise the seeds never shed their waxy coating and wait for fire.

If one adds 12 years to 1834, this sequence emerges:

1834
1846
1858
1870
1882
1894
1906
1918
1930
1942
1954
1966
1978
1990
2002
