Agree with the sentiment but this is a dumb populist law that will tossed out by the federal courts like the Florida law giving the death penalty to child diddlers.

While I agree with you that this will likely get struck down on cruel and unusual grounds I don’t believe that it should.

This is a state matter and not a federal one.

The Incorporation doctrine is a seriously flawed concept. The States are in reality free to do pretty much as they like under the Constitution.

Scotus on its own, without congressional assignment, incorporated the Bill of Rights to stand against the states.
