When my current license expires I am not getting another. I am a free human being, and born and bred in the USA. I have a right to travel, which means drive, walk, ride a bike or a horse. I can even get on a bus, train or plane.

Americans used to have intestinal fortitude or testicles that put out testosterone.

We just go along....just Because?

90 day fiance’, a show my Wife watches. Why don’t they just come for a visit and stay? Then there wouldn’t be a show.

What, if any, measures should be taken to ensure that a person who presents himself to register to vote is actually eligible to vote?

Presentation of a valid government ID which must be acquired by proof of birth. i.e. a birth certificate

What, if any, measures should be taken to ensure that a person who presents himself to cast a vote is who he claims to be?

Answered

What entity or entities, if any, should take any measures you might possibly agree to in respect of the questions above?

The governmental agencies which issue voter registration ID and the agencies which implement and monitor actual voting.

Neither of the above is possible unless the legislature(s) pass and enforce laws requiring this. As I said, that is not going happen because it can't.

Present a birth certificate to get an ID required for voting. Be required to present that ID to vote.

REAL ID discriminates against Christians.

My birth cert has my first and last name, but all my other documents include my middle, confirmation name.

They tell me I’ve got to either change my birth cert (meaning a pricey name change through the courts) or change all my other documents (drop the middle name - which has been in my family for generations).

I failed getting the real ID thru my drivers license. Only birth certificate I have is a photocopy from a German facility which is no longer there. It is not a certified copy with no way to get a certified copy. Was told my naturalization paperwork was inadequate and also not certified copies. I don't plan on flying anywhere at my age so not having one ends up just being a 'meh'.

Agreed, I don’t fly domestically anymore even if it means a 2-day drive sleeping in my car at a rest area with a pistol at hand. Air travel is a dehumanizing experience in Obama/Biden-land. Add in that it takes 10-13 hours to fly anywhere with travel to the airport, parking, getting through screening, boarding a cramped metal tube filled with 20% slobs who see their role in life to make everyone around them miserable, layovers in cramped expensive airports, landing, deplaning, getting your luggage, wishing you could pet the drug dog (’cause he’s such a good dog even if most dogs would vote fascist if they could), renting a car, driving where you need to be, returning the car, waiting on inconvenient return flight schedules, landing, deplaning, waiting for luggage, and driving home. All with untrained and uncaring TSA and airport people looking for ways to make your experience even more miserable.

Last time I had to fly through Chicago they had downsized their screening staff so it took 85 minutes to get through security. There were literally over 400 people in line when I had a chance to count, and they had 5 screeners even though there were 5 additional empty booths. My carryon got pulled for more screening (it was nothing) and the TSA attendant had pulled bags for me and another 6 people and then decided to go on break without getting someone to clear us. He didn’t care. They didn’t care. One person near me started crying when they heard the announcement the doors were closing on their flight and still no one came to clear us. While I can’t say that TSA personnel would have accepted jobs as concentration camp guards, they definitely exhibited the attitude of dehumanizing everyone subject to their security theater.

I am always curious at the number of people on FR that claim they don't fly because of ID requirements, TSA, etc. I don't personally know anyone who refuses to fly for these reasons. I do know a couple people over the years that don't fly because they are afraid of planes.

I'm almost a Delta million miler and would not hesitate to fly anywhere, anytime.

Just to get a basic California Driver’s license!:

If you do not have a driver’s license from California or another state, you must apply for an instruction permit before taking the behind-the-wheel drive test to get your driver’s license.

What You Need: A new license or renewal of a Cali license.

To apply for an instruction permit or driver’s license, you must provide:

Proof of identity: Proving who you are.
Two proofs of residency: Proving you live in California.

Exceptions may apply:
Legal full name document: Proving your current name if the name on your identity document and application do not match.

Social security number: Exceptions may apply.
For REAL ID requirements, current acceptable documents, and eligibility, visit dmv.ca.gov/realid.

Complete a Driver’s License & ID Card Application.
Provide your documents.
Pay a non-refundable application fee.

If you are under 18 years old, you will also need to:

Complete a driver education program.
Have a parent or guardian sign to approve the application and accept financial responsibility (see Section 10). If your parents or guardians share joint custody of you, both must sign.

Any place where you can sit and they bring you booze is fine by me. The problem is, at $8 a drink, Dallas to Ft. Worth gets expensive!
