All I can say is that John McCain was the media's favorite Republican until he ran against Barack Obama. Then McCain became Public Enemy #1.

Don't fool yourself that it won't happen to Carson, too.

Look at Mitt Romney. He was the media's favorite Republican when he was the Governor of Massachusetts, even crediting him as the "father of Obamacare."

Then he ran against Barack Obama and became the new Public Enemy #1.

That’s the point. I want it to happen to Carson. Carson is a lot harder to paint as a bad dude than was McCain and Romney. Neither of the two of them were the kind of guys that most people who voted for them as the lesser of two evils would really want to be at a dinner party with. They just were not all that likable and people the average person could feel comfortable hanging with. Not so with Carson.

The D’s will scrape far more likeability and trust points off themselves in going after Carson than they will scrape off Carson.
