Peripheral neuropathy could cause the feet to be numb. My late wife had it and frequently had difficulty walking around.

It is definitely a diagnosis, often in diabetics with ketones not carried away in peripheral vasculature which remain and degrade/destroy nerve endings, and the microvasculature gets degraded as well. Can lead to amputation of necrosing limbs if not treated. Doubt Xiden is diabetic- but, could be. Neuropathy is a real thing aside from diabetics as well— due to poor return vasculature of blood back to the lungs for oxygenation.
