""Ford appears to be walking that pledge back and is now admitting it will continue to sell vehicles with internal combustion engines after 2030 if there is demand.""

IF??? IF???

""Ford has also adjusted plans for its EV battery factory in Marshall, Michigan, and it will now be much smaller than originally thought.""

There is no major "demand" for EVs without government (taxpayer) $$$$$.

As the coming Global Cooling advances** European EVs will become a fun late spring, summer toy, and any EV owners will, no doubt, have one or more internal combustion vehicles for every day needs.

**Global Cooling advances - the current theory is about 100,000 years of major cold, with 10-15, 000 years of warm in between the cold. The Great Cold will return, and all we can do is adapt.

Governments have many tricks at their disposal to force people into EVs. Hereโ€™s two:

- They could slowly raise gasoline taxes to astronomical levels.
- They could slowly ramp up mpg requirements until no ICE car can meet them.

There would be resistance to both in the US. But sadly, the EU is comfortable with such central planning. It could certainly happen there.

So they’re going to start making Toyotas?

I don’t know about most buyers, but I’ve taken the same pledge with Ford that I’ve taken with GM and Nissan: Never again. For the record, Ford’s F-150 $5,500 tail light repair turned me away, hard.

My biggest concern is that governments may finally use this to get everyone out of personal transportation. Imagine none of the laws about not selling ICE vehicles oddly stay in place. Where does that leave us? Sure, we’ll still have all the vehicles made before that cutoff date, but still. People tend to be willing to do whatever it takes to get along.

It’s important to remember that not everyone was on board with the American revolution. There were a lot of cowards that didn’t want to upset the apple cart.

Easier to survive today’s climate than the cold cycle. Great idea to try to reflect the suns rays. If you want to help the return of ice. Fooki’ idjits!

I had my doubts about Farley, but he seems to be going in the right direction.

In the UK there is a requirement that by 2030 80% of vehicles sold must be zero emissions. ICE vehicles will incur stiff surcharges. In all likelihood EU countries will follow suit. Ford is adapting to government distortions in the market. It looks like no ICE Fords for UK by 2030 but other countries maybe so.
