Overlap and duplication cost taxpayers billions, according to a new report from a Congressional watchdog.
The U.S. Government Accountability Office's annual report identified opportunities to save billions of dollars by reducing overlap, duplication and fragmentation across the federal government.
The report outlines 112 measures that Congress and federal agencies could take to save money and improve government services.

The bloated tick on the neck of the American taxpayor just gets bloatier.
(Confiscation) TAXATION without representation.
Grievance 10: “He has erected a multitude of New Offices and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance” - Declaration
What if I told you that the name of the city in Maryland, before it became Washington, was Rome?
Peanuts.
In one of the many very clear indications of an inside job, the Secy of Defense told us the DOD was costing us trillions ($2.3 Trillions) on September 10, 2001.
I’d say that was very fitting.
What would save far more money, would be eliminating unconstitutional departments entirely. Probably reduce spending by 90%
In the overlap, duplication and fragmentation is where the money is stolen. How much of the overlap, duplication and fragmentation is intentional?
‘Oddly’, not a single (R)N(C) member cares to use this blueprint to correct.
OK, OK, there’s a SMALL handful like Paul & Massie...but WAY too (L) ‘kooky’ for the party of “small govt” to pay heed.
Pols on both sides never even talk about reduction of spending. I was at a financial seminar about 4 years ago I think when the country was a mere $19 trillion in debt and when I asked about that the speaker said it was all still okay but if we ever get up around $43 trillion in debt that “something bad will happen.” Well we’re getting really close to that so...
At the bottom of the page they note that fed.gov also loses as much as $521 billion a year to fraud. But we can’t afford 1/8 of that in aid to Ukraine. Mind-boggling.
Government must be treated for Compulsive Spending and put on a BUDGET
The plan is Power, Control, easy job, perks, change the World and opportunities for politicians to prosper…… why in the h*** would bureaucrats change? Their job is to preserve the status quo!
Don’t those billions that are lost add up to trillions at some point?
But if they save money they won’t get it next year.
Thanks for the link!
Having been to modern Italy and some of the ancient bits, I get the fascination.
But what’s going on in the US these days puts me very much in mind of Rome’s Empire days, not its Republican period.
Not to Deep State.
