Which could be a good idea if it isn’t used against you for political targeting. But likely they pretty much know who you likely voted for anyways.
In this day and age there is no reason to destroy digital voting information. The entire election could fit on a flash stick.

It’s highly unlikely the images were destroyed if they were stored on magnetic storage media unless the media itself was physically damaged or destroyed. If the images were just erased, it’s a virtual certainty they’re recoverable.
Look at what the charges actually entailed. It was cooperating with imaging the records so they could be examined. In essence it is prosecuting an attempted whistleblower.
