You bet its appropriate. I live on 100 acres in Blue Nose country and have likely spent more of those dimes than you have, and have walked in the deck of Bluenose II, but not the plank, yet!.

Living within ~45 miles of the border over the decades, plenty of Canadian Coin circulated south of the border at par.
Often not noticed, but some times objected to.
