Ain't it odd that no pope ever bothered to excommunicate Herr Hitler?

In early 1931, the German bishops excommunicated the Nazi leadership and banned Catholics from the party.

While he was not named- and had already apostasized, Hitler would have been included in this excommunication.

Bishops were made of stronger stuff then. Their actions were driven by the Faith.
