Actress Faces Racist Bullying for Starring as Juliet in "Romeo & Juliet"

Francesca Amewudah-Rivers, starring alongside Tom Holland in "Romeo & Juliet," prompts The Jamie Lloyd Company to condemn racism and harassment in the industry.

Actress Francesca Amewudah-Rivers will play Juliet in the London West End production of "Romeo & Juliet." Because Rivers is the leading lady, she’s been the target of ongoing racist online bullying. This role as Juliet is Amewudah-Rivers’ West End debut, and what a warm welcome. Amewudah-Rivers is starring alongside “Spider-Man” leading man Tom Holland as Romeo.

The Jamie Lloyd Company released a statement: "Following the announcement of our Romeo & Juliet cast, there has been a barrage of deplorable racial abuse online directed towards a member of our company. This must stop. We are working with a remarkable group of artists. We insist that they are free to create work without facing online harassment."

The company continued, "We will continue to support and protect everyone in our company at all costs. Any abuse will not be tolerated and will be reported. Bullying and harassment have no place online, in our industry or in our wider communities."

Didn’t they have articles when
Sean Connery played 007.
“ he can’t play 007. He’s Scottish.”

And I agree with others. It’s a play. Nobody cares.

“America’s Navy values diversity, equality and inclusivity,” the woke Navy leadership claims. “We believe that when a diverse group of individuals come together to do a job, they can do it better because of their differences.”

Look, WokeNavy, believing a thing won't make it so. A thing is either real and true, or it's not.

So far, diversity is not proving to be our strength.

More Masculine than most people would expect Juliet to be, IMO.

If Diversity was Strength, Austria-Hungary would have won WWI.

No one is racial bullying this woman.

The leftoids had this story written before the casting was announced.

It’s just another way to create buzz for the upcoming movie while indulging in their victimhood, which is the life force of their existence.

The classics are old enough and specialized enough that we should let race go, I think.

I liked the one with Leonardo DiCaprio in Los Angeles. I thought it was well done. And it was different.

Let me see how I can pull it off with different races.

Romeo would be a hispanic male. Juliet a black female. They meet at the University of Miami and fall in love. But they find out that their families are gangsters and theyre fighting over similar territory (drug war?). So it's a forbidden love. I wouldn't mention their last names at all because Capulet and Montague are Italian names.

Now that's not too difficult. But woke Hollywood is too stupid to be able to pull it off nowadays.

They chose a sub saharan black woman who is not considered particularlly attractive within her own sub sahara cohort. Sort. Of like casting Lena Dunham or Barbara Streisand as juliiet.

Bingo. Not just diversity, but insult your intelligence and poke a stick in your eye.

In Shakespeare’s day, the role was played by a man.

Since she was supposed to be 13, I'm betting it was a boy, which, considering the English boy choir sopranos, would have been more believable.

If the play were produced in sub-Saharan Africa, she would be considered attractive enough. Maybe not for London audiences, but it’s a bloody play. It’s not like there are close-ups.

Perhaps.

Juliet was cast as a ideal beauty. Italian it is an integral part of the play.

In her neck of the woods my understanding is that this woman would not live up to the casting requirements. There would be others who would
