Death, destruction, pain, sorrow, and hunger is war. It is obscene. What is more obscene is when your enemy uses their own populace as shields to increase the death toll for political purposes.
If polls are correct, the people in Gaza have overwhelming support for Hamas. Civilians are an integral part of the war machine and thus legitimate targets, of which Israel has not attacked by design. A military can not function without the civilians that feed the war machine. They are essential for war.
The British conducted fire bombings of Germany in WWII at night. We did most of the daylight bombing. We also burned most of the major cities of Japan and then dropped the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They surrendered. It worked.
If your enemy knows you have the will to destroy them without mercy and you have the ability, they will not go to war with you.
In the words of Freeper River Rat, “If you are not willing to kill your enemy and all that stand with him, surrender for he has already defeated you.
