We are getting a new bridge here to replace an old one built in the early 70's. It has to conform to the American With Disabilities Act so that it will be easier for people in wheelchairs to cross, which they cannot now. The bridge will be twice as long and twice as wide as the old one. It will be taller with a lower angle of approach and descent. Many properties and businesses had to be procured and torn down to build this bridge which won't be opened until 2027 or later...... The bridge will be twice as long and twice as wide as the old one.

You left out the bicycle lanes going in either direction, plus the ordinary walk ways, since pedestrians cannot be allowed to use either bike or wheelchair lanes.

Better add more to the cost, more time to completion, and more width to the bridge.

Wheelchairs? How many wheelchairs will ever cross that bridge in its entire life?
