For the 10th time or so, the counting of Electoral Votes takes place AFTER the new Congress is seated.
There may be a Dem majority at that time, but a majority prior to that time is irrelevant to the Electoral Votes.
Further, the entire Democrat caucus would not sign onto this. It would take only a few such seats to stop it, unless the GOP is smashed in November with a 50 seat deficit, which is pretty unlikely given how many seats are safe.
Regardless, his seat should still be filled before the general election. To let the rats gain more of a foothold in Congress now could still spell disaster for a Trump victory. Who knows what kind of bills/laws they could pass before Trump could take office.

However, that does not prevent the Dems, the press and apparently a lot of Republicans from publicizing that a Trump win would not be certified - their goal perhaps being to discourage Trump voters.
You’re right but the law would have to be passed and signed in this congress. With the Repukes holding power this won’t happen. They need dome time to get this law ready so that it can be used in January if it should come to that. Yes, every Democrat is the house will support it. It could realistically be slowed in the Senate which is why THIS congress would need to deal with this to make it an optiok for next year. Regardless, it seems wuite obvious that his timing is done with purpose.
