The problem is that fertility rates are going down world wide not just in "moderately industrialized nations".
Something is happening and it is not good.

There is some factor going on that has nothing to do with politics, culture, or religion. We see low birth rates in post-Christian cultures like Western Europe, Communist and atheist countries like China, as well as capitalist, Buddhist and Shinto Japan. Even Russia, despite re-adopting Orthodox Christianity and encouraging families, is still below replacement rate. South Korea, the most Christian country in Northeast Asia, has a birth rate almost as weak as China and Japan.
