Neither side is going to change their position, no matter what. How much money we throw at that fight isn’t going to change anything, other than the number of dead people. I’m all for spending less, and hopefully the body count slowing down some.
100%.
Another tired line spouted by a newly revealed Putin lover. You are all for mass murder, torture, and genocide by your Russian masters
Since I have not seen your name at this thread, or noticed at other sites, I am going to hope that you are new to the Ukraine issue, and would like to learn more about it.
Regarding your comment, here are several thoughts I have developed after several years of viewing Ukraine/Russia comments for several years.
1. You are right, neither side is going to change their position. Putin/Russia is determined to conquer Ukraine, and is encouraged by or determined to follow instructions from Alexandr Dugin’s 1997 book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundations_of_Geopolitics
Putin has appeared more and more influenced by these warlike ideas to the point Dugin is being called “Putin’s Brain.” Unless you read this book review link and the 20+ bullet points describing exactly how to conquer Europe and control much of the world, any opinions you might propose about Russian activities would be severely lacking in information.
2. Zelensky and Ukraine are well aware of these Russian goals and have no desire to be ruled again by the kind of government that starved over 3,000,000 Ukrainians to death under the previous totalitarian government in Russia/USSR. This determination in further reinforced by current Russian Army acts of torturing and murdering surrendered Ukrainian soldiers, which are actual “war crimes” such as Hitler’s Nazis were convicted of and hanged for after WW2.
3. Thanks to Trump’s clever actions, we are no longer spending money on Ukraine’s battles. NATO and EU have been forced to wake up and defend their own countries (whose danger is described in Dugin’s book), so they are now buying US military equipment with their own money and providing it to defend Ukraine. Given President Trumps push for a war settlement it appears Russian commanders may have been getting fewer of their soldiers killed as they hoped for peace. However with Putin’s unrelenting massive drone strikes on both civilian and military targets in Ukraine, that hope is gone. Russian are now again being killed or wounded at the 1000+ daily level.
So, we are now spending far less or perhaps nothing, and for a while fewer were dying, but it appears at this point nothing will change until Putin realizes his chances of winning this goal are unlikely. It appears Mr. Preston brought you to this site where he persists in posting old news, like the long comment that immediately follows your comment I am answering. Or he posts ridiculous pictures over and over, like the one suggesting that Trump’s hand is giving the finger to the American people. If you are wise you will consider your friendships carefully.
When you read the linked book review, pay special attention to the bullet points for the US and Canada. You will be able to see how Putin has used Russian Special Services to foment much of the racial and other violence that we are now so upset about.
“How much money we throw at that fight isn’t going to change anything”
Edmund Burke once said: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men should do nothing.”
Shockingly I disagree
Prior to 2022did Russia experience the following
Decrease in petro revenue
17% interest rates
10+ inflation
0 GDP GROWTH(their words not mine)
22% vat tax
Lots thased to hold vast quantities of Soviet legacy equipment and ammunition and are now empty or only with useless junk
Dependent on China, NK, and Iran for ammunition, equipment, manpower, cars…
Epidemic of window accidents
Shrinking helicopter, aircraft, and ship inventory
Yup nothing will change
