“Results for the largest Russian oil companies’ activities for Q1 2025

Loss of -$4 billion, against +$4 billion in profit a year earlier. This was all BEFORE the fall of oil price in April.”

It is financial train wreck time in Russia (2025). Gas revenues are already gone - only oil kept them afloat.

A new lower price cap is being discussed, as well as big crackdowns on the shadow fleet. Oil facilities in Russia are burning again, and other competing oil producers are pumping up to take more of Russia’s market share. The overwhelming Bone-Crushing Sanctions remain at the ready, causing all players to shift to a post-Russian oil supply, to cover their butts, in case they drop.

Putin is a Master Strategist - if his strategy is to destroy Russia...

Ukraine has not officially declared war, but it is engaged in a major armed conflict due to Russia's invasion. On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, prompting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to declare martial law in response. This followed years of conflict, including Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 and support for separatists in eastern Ukraine. In 2018, Ukraine declared certain regions occupied by Russia.

While Russia did not formally declare war either, the Kremlin officially acknowledged a "state of war" on March 22, 2024, two years into the invasion. Ukraine, however, has framed its actions as self-defense rather than a formal declaration of war, focusing on repelling Russian forces with significant international support. The conflict remains active, with recent escalations and peace talks proposed for May 2025.

Not confirmed but interesting...

Ukraine Defense Forces report that a Russian trainload of military equipment was destroyed in the south. The equipment destroyed included 13 tanks and more than a hundred units of armor and automotive vehicles.
