Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

Thanks to Trump’s victory, will Russia announce a serious mobilization? They say that up to a million people could be drafted into the army.

This opinion was expressed in a conversation with our channel by philosopher Alexander Dugin.

“You know that I have long been a supporter of serious mobilization and preparation of our country for a long war for its interests, for living space. We need big victories. And for this you need to make an effort. Trump’s victory opens up great opportunities,” says Alexander Gelyevich.

According to him, several people around Vladimir Putin successfully persuaded him not to take drastic actions, “because they were afraid of inadequate steps on the part of Biden and his team ( we are forced to confirm the fact that quite influential people have such fears, although we tried not to write about this - ed. )”.

“Now, I hope, there is nothing to be afraid of. Therefore, I expect the mobilization of up to a million people, and the strengthening of our activity around the world, and internal transformations in Russia.

“First of all, the strengthening of traditional Russian values, the struggle, even a real war for fertility , a complete restructuring of society from the inside. We all must live by war, victories, battles for the future of our Great Country,” Dugin added.

Sources in the Kremlin were divided in their assessment of such statements by Alexander Gelyevich. Some urge “not to take them seriously.” Others note that “perhaps it will not be so harsh and not all at once, but Dugin would not say such a thing without sanction from above.”

“Attacking Russian ships in the Caspian Sea...wow! “

Surprise!

Two frigates in one night (waiting to see how much damage).

One implication, is that the new Naval Base that Russia is building on captured Georgian territory, is already in range.

He did some great deals. He got Austria to abdicate its sovereignty, and he got Chamberlain to abdicate Czechoslovakia’s sovereignty over the Sudetenland for them. He signed a non-aggression pact with Russia and after a while invaded them. What a shrewd bargainer, although Trump has a gentler touch, and doesn’t go back on a deal like Hitler did, or murder millions. His “art of the deal” is that everybody feels happy with the result.

Ukraine can form its own alliances with non-NATO eastern European countries for mutual security against the big bad bear.

There are no non-NATO eastern European countries that could offer even a sliver of security to Ukraine. Maybe you mean NATO countries forming alliances with Ukraine outside of NATO? Like Poland, Romania and the Baltic states? I think that's possible.

This indicates (to me) that Taiwan has enough Patriot systems to cover their entire country.

Taiwan decommissioned HAWK a few years ago, replaced (officially) by their domestic Sky Sword system. But they do have 7 or 8 Patriot batteries. For Taiwan, I don't think there's any such thing as "enough" air defense against an enemy like China. What they really need is an alliance with Japan and South Korea. Japan seems to be taking the Chinese threat seriously, while Taiwan allowed their military to decline, and is now trying to play catch-up. An alliance between Japan, Korea and Taiwan would likely attract other nations threatened by China.

Trump should tell the Pacific/Oceania nations the same as he did Europe, to provide for their own defense and economic independence from those who threaten them. That includes forming defensive alliances with your neighbors.

No. Non-NATO countries. At this point, Ukraine, assuming it still exists by the time Trump is inaugurated, will be full of combat veterans and military innovations which they came up with out of necessity on the battlefield, and those other eastern European countries who are also threatened by Russia, from the Baltic Sea to the Balkan mountains, not having been bombed and degraded so thoroughly, can produce the devices that Ukrainians improvised so effectively; mines that only explode for heavy armor but not on human footsteps, drones that drop grenades down tank hatches, and improve on them in the course of mass production. They also have fresh troops who could use some instructions from hardened veterans, so that they’ll be ready in case Putin or the next dictatorial mofo gets frisky. Best to be at arm’s length from NATO. First, because they’re a moribund bureaucracy that’s overrated as a military force. Second, because Putin used flirtation with NATO as a pretext to mess with both Georgia and Ukraine, and is likely to try it again in Moldavia. So let sleeping dogs lie, assuming that Trump is as good as his word, and can stop this war. Eastern European mutual defense can start out as something slap dash and amateurish, like the British Home Guard with their golf clubs and assegai spears brought home from Roark’s Crossing. But develop into something formidable and professional by the time any putative hour of need arises, as did the Home Guard. That was really how Ukraine’s defense against the invasion started in the South. Villagers with hunting rifles defended a bridge that happened to block the Russian path to Odessa.

2A fans, I would think, could appreciate that kind of spunk from makeshift militia.

The only eastern European countries not in NATO are Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Moldova. Georgia, if you count them as European, just lost a war with Russia in 2008, and is occupied by Russia to this day. Russia is in the process of building a Naval base in occupied Georgia, 80 miles from the Russian border. These countries either have no desire (Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina) or no capacity (Moldova and Georgia) to form a military alliance with Ukraine. Any security guarantees to Ukraine will come from NATO members, even if outside the NATO alliance.

Russian channels are highlighting the disastrous events of November 2, when Ukraine's 10th Mountain Assault Brigade inflicted severe losses on a coordinated push by four battalions in the Bilohorivka area, along the Siversk axis.

According to Russian sources, it was the reckless order of the 123rd Brigade commander that led to this incident, resulting in significant, irrecoverable losses in both personnel and equipment.

I suggested the idea of a lease to Russia for Sevastapol to be only used by business and private use. I think it is important to keep Russian war ships away from the Ukraine export ports like Odessa, as well as ready access to countries bordering the Mediterranean. I imagine major oligarchs would be happy to use this port for their huge yachts, and trips to the vacation spots in the Mediterranean. They might even put pressure on Putin to accept such an arrangement.

Regarding disguising ships with cranes, I suspect the overall profile of war ships is quite different from that of shipping and pleasure craft. And they cannot be disguised by a few cranes. As a leased property, the leasor, Ukraine, would have full access to the facilities, and recognized/negotiated inspection rights..

It makes sense. OK. Anyway, it’s a face-saving move for Putin, so so long as he signs on the dotted line before “Big Ivan” shoves him out a window, it’s all good. Sebastopol has become useless as a base of military operations for some time now, and their war ships are docked in Georgia.

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, November 6, 2024

A prominent Russian brigade commander and official indicated that Russian commanders and civilian leadership explicitly view Russian military volunteers as expendable resources, consistent with high casualty rates across the frontline. Russian outlet RTVI reported on November 5 that Russian “Union of Donbass Volunteers” (UDV) Board Chairperson and “7th Assault Brigade” (reportedly of the UDV) Commander, State Duma deputy, and Alexander Borodai stated in a recording of a telephone conversation that “superfluous people” of low socioeconomic prospects are volunteering to join the Russian military and are “paid off in a war in order to simply wear out the enemy” and that “civilian suits,” likely referring to civilian leadership, view these Russians as “second-class infantry” who “do not have much value.”[44] RTVI noted that Borodai confirmed that he was speaking in the recording, though he claimed that the recording took his statements out of context. Borodai’s statements are emblematic of the Kremlin's viewpoint of volunteers given its continued reliance on volunteer recruitment to sustain high losses to maintain attritional, infantry-led assaults across the theater.[45]

Kyiv Independent reports on the recent strike on Russia’s Caspian Sea Flotilla Base in Dagestan:

“Ukrainian forces may have targeted routes in Dagestan used by Iran to supply weapons to Russia, the War Zone media outlet said on Nov. 6.

Dagestan authorities reported intercepting a drone attack over Kaspiysk, a port city at the Caspian Sea around 1,000 kilometers from the front line (600 miles), on the morning of Nov. 6. Ukraine’s military intelligence was behind the attack, a source in the agency told the Kyiv Independent.

In the first Ukrainian attack against a naval base in Dagestan, at least two vessels — missile ships Tatarstan and Dagestan — were damaged in the attack, and possibly also several small Project 21631 ships, according to the source. The Kyiv Independent could not immediately verify the claims.

Although the precise consequences of the Ukrainian attack are difficult to establish, the recent strike is still “significant in several ways,” the War Zone’s experts said.

The port in Dagestan is not only a base for the Russian Caspian Flotilla and several military units of the Russian Armed Forces but is also located along the routes used by Iran to deliver weapons to Russia.

Until the recent Ukrainian attack, this route was considered safe for transportation due to being supposedly out of the range of Ukrainian weapons.

While Russian authorities claimed to have intercepted a single drone in the skies, a video shared on social media appears to show another drone hitting its target, resulting in a large explosion.

The incident took place roughly 15 kilometers (10 miles) from a local airport, the Mash news channel claimed, identifying the drone as a Ukrainian A-22 Flying Fox drone.

The nearby Makhachkala airport has suspended operations for an indefinite period due to the incident, local authorities said.”
