“North Korean Soldiers Arrive on Russia’s Front Line. How Ready Are They to Fight?”
“The North Korean troops nearing Russia’s front lines with Ukraine may not be the cream of the crop in Kim Jong Un’s army.
They are seemingly young—teenagers or in their early 20s—and likely in the early stages of military conscription, according to video footage and intelligence officials. The soldiers appear relatively short and slightly built, reflecting widespread malnourishment across impoverished North Korea, military analysts say.
Their special-forces training would have focused on assassinations and infrastructure destruction in mountainous South Korea, a far cry from the trench warfare unfolding in the flat plains along the Ukrainian-Russian border. The fresh-faced troops have likely never left North Korea. The country’s army operates aging and outdated conventional military equipment.
“Mere cannon fodder mercenaries,” South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun told lawmakers on Thursday, in an assessment of the troops. “
“The families of the troops have apparently been isolated and moved en masse to unknown locations, to limit knowledge of the Russia deployment, South Korea’s intelligence chief told lawmakers last week. “
“A former official in Israel’s intelligence services told Bloomberg that Iran is thought to have some 20 to 30 S-300 batteries. Even if only some were taken down — media reports circulated estimates of between four and eight batteries — it was a clear message that more could be damaged in future attacks. The S-300 system will be hard to replenish given Russia’s need to prioritize its own defenses in its war with Ukraine.”
Ukraine
#8 in Strong military
#80 in Best Countries Overall
Ukraine, a nation whose history has experienced long periods of occupation from other countries, today wrestles between war and peace, as well as between corruption and reform. The nation borders the Black and Azov seas to the south and abuts several Eastern European nations, including Russia. Ukraine declared independence from the former Soviet Union in 1991. Its president is directly elected by voters. The prime minister is the head of the central government, which is separated along executive, legislative and judicial branches.
Has held at bay Russia #1 in Strong military for almost 3 years.
Russia #36 in Best Countries Overall
The scale of Russia is difficult to imagine. It is the world’s largest country by land mass – nearly twice as big as Canada, the world’s second-largest nation – and covers all of northern Asia and much of Eastern Europe. It shares land borders with more than a dozen countries, and shares sea borders with Japan and the United States.

Jon Boy, you so FUNNY!
I’m not sure they are intended to ever return to North Korea regardless of what happens to them on the battlefield, Kim may be dumping them.
I imagine North Korea doesn’t want anyone in their country who has seen other parts of the world, and can clearly see how they’ve been lied to. Stalin did the same with the Red Army soldiers who returned after the war.
You should give more of your talking points to Moscow Marge!
Interesting script to your article; in which language do you claim it’s written?
Gee willikers Mr Lucky, you’re up late tonight. Maybe you should take your Clown shoes off and hop into bed!
It probably hurts, just a little, to get busted by a guy who wears clown shoes.
The President can just forgive the debt and then everything will be OK.
This evening I was surprised to find a half hour video on my cell phone describing attacks by Ukraine on 3 Russian alcohol plants today. There was much amazement and speculation as to what the rationale for Ukraine was regarding this shift in targeting choices. Then a detailed description of alcohol problems for the Russian military. I could find NO ARTICLE here on this or other threads regarding this unusual development of Ukraine tactics and their motive. So below is a Google search page with articles describing these attacks. It lists a number of articles including info on a major attack on a major Russian alcohol plant 6 days ago, which I also never saw here. I will now go read some of those articles, and perhaps report later. Happy reading.
Alcohol plants produce isopropyl alcohol and ethylene glycol which are used in antifreeze. Winter is coming for the third time in the Russo-Ukraine war. Russian combat vehicles need proper maintenance to work, and in winter, that means antifreeze, huge quantities to keep the war machine running. An antifreeze shortage will add to Russia’s logistical problems.
