This evening I was surprised to find a half hour video on my cell phone describing attacks by Ukraine on 3 Russian alcohol plants today. There was much amazement and speculation as to what the rationale for Ukraine was regarding this shift in targeting choices. Then a detailed description of alcohol problems for the Russian military. I could find NO ARTICLE here on this or other threads regarding this unusual development of Ukraine tactics and their motive. So below is a Google search page with articles describing these attacks. It lists a number of articles including info on a major attack on a major Russian alcohol plant 6 days ago, which I also never saw here. I will now go read some of those articles, and perhaps report later. Happy reading.
Alcohol plants produce isopropyl alcohol and ethylene glycol which are used in antifreeze. Winter is coming for the third time in the Russo-Ukraine war. Russian combat vehicles need proper maintenance to work, and in winter, that means antifreeze, huge quantities to keep the war machine running. An antifreeze shortage will add to Russia’s logistical problems.
If you deprive an alcoholic of booze, he goes into withdrawal, becomes impatient, listless, given to angry outbursts. Might even make his hand tremble so he can’t aim a rifle properly, try fermenting garbage to get his fix of alcohol, which could cause toxic results.
Taking out the distilleries was a masterstroke.
