Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

“it is probably GLOC (G induced Loss of Consciousness).”

Hopefully, the sacrifice made by this brave pilot will highlight the risk enough, to save others.

Continually improve the training process, to not have the same fault twice.

(Some) Russian troops reportedly leave Burkina Faso due to Kursk incursion

Kyiv Independent reports (from Le Monde)”

“A Russian private military company with links to Russia’s Defense Ministry is withdrawing from Burkina Faso due to Ukraine’s incursion into Kursk Oblast, French newspaper Le Monde reported on Aug. 29.

According to Le Monde, the 100-strong unit known as the Bears Brigade arrived in the West African nation of Burkina Faso in May to support the junta of Captain Ibrahim Traore, who came to power in a coup in September 2022.

Traore visited Russia in July 2023 for a Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and attended Russian Navy Day celebrations.

Around 300 Russian troops are estimated to be deployed in Burkina Faso, Le Monde said.

Le Monde contacted the commander of the Bears Brigade, Viktor Yermolaev, via Telegram, on Aug. 22, after Ukraine launched its incursion into Kursk Oblast on Aug. 10.

“When the enemy arrives on our Russian territory, all Russian soldiers forget about internal problems and unite against a common enemy,” Yermolaev told Le Monde.

The Bears Brigade’s Telegram channel posted on Aug. 27 that the unit is returning to its base in Russian-occupied Crimea “in connection with recent events.”

Yermolaev also told Le Monde that the unit has “no connection with the Russian Defense Ministry.”

The Bears Brigade was formed in March 2023 and is part of a Russian military grouping called Redut, which claims to be a private military company.

A Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty investigation in 2023 revealed that Redut is controlled by the GRU, Russia’s military intelligence agency.

Burkina Faso is reportedly a focus of Russian efforts to expand its influence in Africa.”

Not the first time Ukraine has lost an airplane that was intercepting cruise missiles and drones. From Wiki:
On 13 October 2022, a Ukrainian MiG-29 crashed during a combat mission. Its pilot is claimed to have destroyed a Shahed-136 drone with his cannon, and it is believed the debris from the drone collided with the aircraft and forced the pilot to eject.

Ukrainian sources claim that the pilot shot down five drones and two cruise missiles shortly before the crash. The downed MiG-29 was wearing a livery similar to that of the Ukrainian Falcons display team.

According to the Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigation: "the jet collided with debris from a destroyed drone, which caused massive damage to it to the point where it crashed near a village in northeast Vinnytsia. The pilot managed to eject and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

Dangerous job. Rest in Peace, Oleksii Mes. God bless you and your family and friends you leave behind.

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, August 29, 2024

Russian authoritieswith large-scale fraud on August 29. The Russian Investigative Committee charged Popov with embezzling money meant for the maintenance of the Russian Ministry of Defense's (MoD) Patriot Park, a Russian military exhibition in Moscow.[25] Russian authorities did not disclose how much money Popov is suspected of embezzling personally but noted his case is connected to the large-scale fraud cases of the Patriot Park Head Vyacheslav Akhmedov and MoD Directorate for Innovative Development Deputy Head Major General Vladimir Shesterov, whom Russian authorities arrested on August 5 for embezzling over 40 million rubles (roughly $471,000).[26] Russian state news outlet TASS reported, citing Russian law enforcement sources, that Akhmedov testified against Popov.[27] A Russian source that has previously correctly preemptively reported several command changes within the Russian MoD assessed on August 5 that Popov could be the next high-ranking MoD official to be arrested.[28] Russian sources have previously theorized that the arrests of high-ranking MoD officials who served under former Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu may be part of an effort to “clean house” of Shoigu’s affiliates within the MoD, which the sources claimed indicates that Shoigu’s influence within the Kremlin may be declining.[29]

Russian President Vladimir Putin will conduct an official visit to Mongolia despite Mongolia's status as a signatory to the Rome Statue and Mongolia's legal obligation to enforce an arrest warrant for Putin from the International Criminal Court (ICC). The Kremlin press service announced on August 29 that Putin will travel to Mongolia on September 3, marking his first visit to a state party to the Rome Statute since the ICC issued the arrest warrant in March 2023 for Putin's role in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.[30] Putin notably avoided traveling to South Africa for a BRICS summit in August 2023 on similar grounds.[31] Putin's upcoming visit to Mongolia for negotiations on a “strategic partnership” suggests that Mongolian authorities likely will not enforce the ICC arrest warrant.[32] This visit also follows the annual “Selenga” bilateral Russian–Mongolian military exercises which began on August 15, further highlighting the strong bilateral relations between the two countries.[33] Russia has previously stated that it does not recognize the ICC’s jurisdiction, and Russian officials have not yet commented on the possibility of Putin's arrest in Mongolia. Russian blogger:

Ukraine has lost its first F-16. This is good news for us, but it is too early to rejoice.

During a massive strike on Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost an F-16 aircraft. Kiev received these aircraft only a few weeks ago, and in limited quantities. The reasons for the plane crash are not fully known, but Ukraine is writing that the aircraft was used to repel an air attack.

However, there is no reason to rejoice too much at this news for two reasons. Unfortunately, in recent weeks we have lost significantly more aircraft (remember at least the strike on the Marinovka airfield in the Volgograd region ). It is also worth noting that the Netherlands has allowed Ukraine to use F-16s on Russian territory. And this is a more important point.

This gives reason to say that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are unlikely to take care of the aircraft in the rear . They will probably be actively used in the combat zone. With an increase in the number of F-16s, this may gradually change the situation on the battlefield.

Russian blogger describes what to focus on

The Kursk wave has passed. What's next?

The Kremlin's political bloc has received a study on the impact of the Kursk breakthrough of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the domestic political situation in the country. The presidential administration is satisfied with the results. We will give several important points here.

Firstly, the majority of citizens reacted to the situation rather neutrally than negatively. That is, yes, the enemy, alas, is on our land, but Much credit for this goes to the media, who covered the events in a restrained manner.

Secondly, the situation in the Kursk region has hardly affected the president personally. With the exception of ratings in the affected region. Sergei Kiriyenko was pleased with these results of the study.

Thirdly , neither the topic of temporary territorial losses, nor the topic of conscripts have become hypertoxic in society. Yes, conscripts die, are captured. But in general, they must defend the country together with everyone else. There is a note of surprise here, and, in general, a fair result. Still, not many parents have gone public and looked for their sons. Most accepted the loss without unnecessary fuss.

In connection with the last point, the authorities are convinced of the possibility of delaying mobilization in favor of using conscripts in the SVO zone [=Ukraine] and in border regions.

Saint Suvorov failed to survive his worshipers’ prayer services, now lies in a secret place.

Kremlin snuff box, 08/30/24
Prayers near Suvorov’s ashes have been stopped. The remains of the great commander were treated “bestially”

This information was given to us by an officer who took part in several prayer services near the ashes of Alexander Suvorov, including at the front. According to him, all prayers have been stopped, and the remains themselves are in one of the warehouses “along with old bulletproof vests and other rubbish.”

Let us remember that the ashes of the great commander were taken to the front in the spring so that they would maintain the morale of the military and help defeat the enemy; group prayers were also held there near the remains.

Later, Suvorov’s ashes were divided into two parts - one of them, unfortunately, was damaged at the front, and the other was transported for some time to defense industry enterprises. Now all these practices have been stopped.

“They treated Alexander Vasilyevich like a beast. They collected everything that was left of him. There was serious damage, from the skull, for example, only a small part remained, some bones were lost. And they loaded all sorts of military junk into a warehouse.

“And now he lies there. Like some kind of garbage. And no one buries it, they say, maybe it will come in handy again. The grave stands empty, but this happens to the ashes,” our interlocutor said.

He is outraged. Where exactly Suvorov’s ashes are now, the interlocutor refused to answer. He fears that the enemy will attack this warehouse.

Sources in the Ministry of Defense confirmed that prayers near the remains of the commander have been stopped, as they “have ceased to be helpful and effective.”

At the same time, they refused to tell us information about where and in what condition Suvorov’s ashes are now stored, noting that this is “secret information.”
