This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

🇩🇪 NATO's Air Base in Geilenkirchen, Germany, has been placed on high alert following intelligence reports of a potential threat. In response, the base has heightened its security measures, sending home all non-essential personnel as a precaution. Stationed there for four years. Great assignment if you can get it. G-K is right on the border to Holland, and when I left there, the Muslims had started to settle in that region of the Netherlands.
“Finland has agreed to station a NATO armored brigade on its soil. The new unit, consisting of 4,000 to 5,000 soldiers and officers, is being formed and will be based in the city of Mikkeli (named for the Archangel Michael), near the Russian border (about 140 Km, facing St.Petersburg, about 200 Km up the main highway from Helsinki), reports the Finnish news outlet Iltalehti, citing sources within the North Atlantic Alliance and security services…
…Swedish and Norwegian military personnel will be part of this armored brigade. Public announcements from NATO officials and Finnish authorities are expected in the coming weeks. “The decisions have already been made,” Iltalehti confirms, citing its sources.
A NATO headquarters will be established in Mikkeli (the location of Finland’s Military HQ in WWII) to oversee the military operations, reporting directly to the alliance’s headquarters in Norfolk, on the US East Coast. Planning for the headquarters has been underway since last spring, according to Iltalehti. Deputy Commander of NATO Joint Operations Command in Norfolk, British Rear Admiral Tim Henry, visited Mikkeli during that period. “We want to send a direct message to the Russians—and do so publicly. The alliance is very clear in its position: Russia poses a threat to the Euro-Atlantic region,” Henry emphasized during his visit.
Finland joined NATO in 2023, ending a 75-year period of neutrality. As a result, NATO’s shared border with Russia doubled, stretching to 2,600 kilometers.”

“In a significant development from the Kursk region, Ukrainian Forces have eliminated Zelimkhan Batukayev, a Russian special forces commander known by his call sign “Shustryi,” along with approximately 30 other Russian soldiers. Batukayev, who led the Akhmat Special Forces Group, was taken down according to various Telegram channels, including one managed by Ukrainian Colonel Anatoliy “Stirlitz” Shtefan. Ukrainian fighters described the operation as “epic,” stating they had been tracking the group since they arrived in the Kursk area…
…Batukayev’s death comes amid a growing trend of residents in the Kursk region providing information on the whereabouts of Kadyrov forces to Ukrainian Defense Forces. On August 11, it was revealed that a Russian conscript from the Kursk region disclosed Kadyrov forces’ positions, motivated by revenge after being sexually assaulted by Kadyrov fighters.”

“In a bold move signaling growing religious independence, the Estonian Orthodox Church under the Moscow Patriarchate (EOC MP) has officially severed its ties with the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and updated its charter, reports DW. (Under Constantinople instead of Moscow, as the Ukrainian Church is also doing).
Under the revised charter, the church will gain full autonomy over religious affairs, economic activities, educational initiatives, and public church matters.
Earlier this year, on May 6, Estonia’s parliament passed a resolution condemning the Moscow Patriarchate for supporting Russian aggression against Ukraine and called on the Estonian Orthodox Church to break its ties with the ROC.”

Significance?
India has a lot of old & retired soviet/russian military equipment.
Perhaps India will donate some of that equipment to Ukraine.
“Perhaps India will donate some of that equipment to Ukraine.”
I would not bet on that. India is desperate to maintain Russia outside of China’s alliance, in case push comes to shove between India and China. India also has to rely on Russia to maintain a lot of its Soviet/Russian Military equipment.
India is working to get more militarily independent of Russia, but they have a long way to go.
Another day, another wave of sanctions.
Moscow Times reports:
“The U.S. unveiled sweeping sanctions Friday against almost 400 individuals and companies tied to Russia’s war effort in Ukraine, a day before Ukraine’s independence day.
The moves announced by the U.S. Treasury, State and Commerce departments build on a raft of existing sanctions against Russia over the invasion, now well into its third year…
…The Treasury Department’s sanctions targeted nearly 400 individuals and entities both inside and outside of Russia “whose products and services enable Russia to sustain its war effort and evade sanctions,” it announced in the statement.
Among those sanctioned were 60 Russia-based defense and technology firms “critical for the sustainment and development of Russia’s defense industry,” it added.
Alongside the sanctions unveiled Friday, the U.S. Commerce Department said it was taking “aggressive action” to further restrict the supply of items made in the United States, or labeled as such, to both Russia and Belarus.”

The crews inside will cook nicely, even before they are hit.
“Russians are now using Rubber to cover the outside of their tanks rather than steel…”
Pitiful.
No doubt it was just some guys locally trying to take some initiative, and do what they could to improve survivability for themselves or their soldiers, but for a modern military, it is pitiful.
In their shoes, I would probably try it too. Something beats nothing.

The regions received a bad signal. What they say in Kursk about the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Moscow’s reaction
The breakthrough of the Ukrainian Armed Forces deep into Russian territory with the subsequent seizure of part of the Kursk region became a cold shower for many in Russia. At first there was shock, but now it is perceived as a new normal.
But if you look at the trends, there are unobvious points that create problems for the authorities in the future. Or rather, the government itself has created dangerous preconditions.
Fact 1. The central government (including the security forces) reacted extremely slowly to the invasion of enemy brigades. Officially, there was very little information in the first days, and the Ministry of Defense completely lied that the enemy troops were defeated and retreated back to Ukraine.
Fact 2. Two weeks later, a shocking consensus emerged in society. The occupation of part of the Kursk region turned out to be the norm. They calmly talk about this on TV, Apti Alaudinov states this, and other politicians talk about it.
Fact 3. But in Kursk itself everything is much more complicated. Acting Governor Alexei Smirnov’s relations with the Kremlin have worsened. So much so that they even wanted to remove him from the elections. Local elites complain off the record that the region has essentially been abandoned.
“There are a lot of statements about help, but in fact we were told: come to terms with the fact that Ukraine took part of the territory. The elections there were quietly canceled, as if this were normal. And this is unpleasant. After all, if the troops were transferred quickly, then the enemy would not would have been able to gain a foothold. But a different decision was made,” said one of the local deputies.
Another interlocutor noted that even at meetings with the president, the Kursk region is not the main topic, but one of them.
“We understand that Palestine, Azerbaijan, and the Caucasus are all important. But what about us?” our source asks rhetorically.
This is a stunning moment in history.
