Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

We know what must happen to the Cubans in Venezuela

“3 hours ago a plane coming from Cuba landed in Caracas! What will it be? Will Castro bring damned imperialist black wasps to help the usurping dictator Nicolás Maduro repress the people? Will it be “the sacred cow” of the escape of the tyrant and his combo?”

The average age of a Combat Soldier in the Dictator Zelenskys Ukraine is currently 43 years old

Now, diabetics, chronic asthmatics, and those suffering mental illnesses are being dispatched to the front to die

They themselves appeal to their commanders, to no avail. pic.twitter.com/XEeFAgT5Wh— Chay Bowes (@BowesChay) July 30, 2024

Where Putin will welcome his billions with open arms, Maduro not so much.

Russia is lying about its economic strength: sanctions are working – and we need more

Opinion piece by (Swedish) Minister for Finance Elisabeth Svantesson and seven European finance ministers, The Guardian, 24 July 2024.

“President Vladimir Putin and his authoritarian regime are peddling the false narrative that the Russian economy is strong, and that its war machine is unharmed by western sanctions. This is a lie that must be rebutted. In fact, there are many signs that the Russian war economy is deteriorating...

...While Russian GDP may be growing, the economy is increasingly geared towards the war industry, upheld by large fiscal stimulus. This is not an endless source of growth, nor a sign of a stable economy. The Kremlin’s war factories are already at maximum capacity. Unemployment has fallen to the point that there are reports that Vladimir Putin approved the replacement of imprisonment for forced labour. The tight labour market has put upward pressure on wages, while the weaker ruble increases import prices and is contributing to increasingly high inflation, despite Russian central bank efforts to fight it with high interest rates.

To finance the war, the Russian government has tapped into the liquid assets of Russia’s national wealth fund. Estimates by Bloomberg suggest it has almost halved in size since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as the country sacrifices its future prosperity to wreak havoc abroad. Moscow has also resorted to several extreme interventions to control the Russian economy. Export bans for petrol and sugar have been introduced to secure domestic supply. Strict capital controls have been put in place to prevent the exodus of private funds from the country and keep the ruble from freefalling. Even so, there are still reports of billions of US dollars being transferred out of the country.

For many Russians, the wartime economic policy of the Kremlin must bring about a sense of deja vu. Capital controls, export bans and heavy investments in the war industry are not new policies, but rather a return to the Soviet playbook.

What could be perceived and mistaken as a “boost” to Russian growth is, in fact, the beginning of a re-Sovietisation of the economy.

Many of the hallmarks are there: far-reaching market controls, heavy public spending financed by expropriation of private assets, and a reorientation of the economy towards the war industry, with a total disregard for the social and economic wellbeing of the population. History clearly shows that this is not a successful long-term strategy. The short-term overheating of the economy, fueled by heavy investments in the war industry and very limited access to technology, will likely hinder productivity gains and result in stagnation of the private sector, even more rampant inflation and increasing pressure on Russian households.

To cover future deficits, Putin will have to use monetary financing, adding more fuel to inflation, and further deplete the Russian cash reserves. If Putin stays on this path, the long-term damage to the Russian economy could be significant and is likely to further erode confidence...

...By re-Sovietising the Russian economy, Putin has put it on a path towards its own decline. Now it is time for the west to up the pressure even more.

Elisabeth Svantesson, minister for finance, Sweden

Stephanie Lose, minister for economic affairs, Denmark

Mart Võrklaev, minister of finance, Estonia

Riikka Purra, minister of finance, Finland

Arvils Ašeradens, minister of finance, Latvia

Gintarė Skaistė, minister of finance, Lithuania

Eelco Heinen, minister of finance, Netherlands

Andrzej Domański, minister of finance, Poland

Eight European Finance Ministers agree:

“To cover future deficits, Putin will have to use monetary financing, adding more fuel to inflation, and further deplete the Russian cash reserves.”

No end to the Ruble printing spree - as long as the war goes on, the inflationary hole that Russia is in will grow deeper, and deeper.

Russia is already having to shift gears, as their financial reserves approach the end of their ability to continue buffering the expense of the war. They are having to transition to taking it out of hide as they go - cutting deeper to bone, out of the standard or living of the Russian population. More taxes, higher prices, less education, health care or infrastructure.

Those current war bills, though huge, are dwarfed by the reparations and reconstruction bills that Russia is amassing, as it illegally demolishes cities, and commits torts against hundreds of thousands of families, in both Ukraine and Russia.

A gigantic bonfire of Russia’s wealth, and it’s future prospects for growth.

Putin did that. He brought doom onto the people of Russia.

Let’s get Bill Gates and his TerraPower company working on rapidly installing more nuclear power generation in Ukraine - they are supposed to be fast to get up and running.

Kyiv Independent: Ukraine needs to increase nuclear power capacity to overcome problems with electricity generation, US official says

“Ukraine needs to improve its nuclear power capacity to solve the problems with electricity generation caused by Russian attacks, Penny Pritzker, U.S. special representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery, said during her visit to Kyiv, NV reported on July 30...

...In the long run, the Ukrainian government will decide how to generate electricity on its own, but building up nuclear power is a rational quick solution, Pritzker said...

...In April, Energoatom started building reactor units 5 and 6 at the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant using U.S. technology that would help prevent power outages in case of Russian attacks.

After the reactor units 5 and 6 are built and units 3 and 4 are put into operation, the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant’s power generating capacity will exceed the one of the Zaporizhzhia plant, according to Energoatom.

In total, there are three nuclear power plants on Ukrainian-held territory.

The Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant operates two 1000 MW units, the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant has three 1000 MW units, and the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant has two 1000 MW and 420 MW units each.

(Separately, the Kyiv Independent reports that almost 5,000 workers from the Russian occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant have been evacuated to Ukrainian controlled territory, and are expected to provide the required larger workforce at the expanded Khmelnytskyi NPP.)

While we are imagining conditions for peace negotiations, here is another.

As soon as negotiations begin, inspectors will be stationed at all border crossing points to inspect vehicles and contents wishing to return to Russia. All items proven or believed to belong to Ukranian towns and people, and not proven to belong to Russians will be confiscated and held for further identification or returned to owners immediately. This shall include fire department equipment, ambulances, buses, tractors, harvesters, trucks, business equipment, automobiles, washing machines, driers, toilets, consumer electronics, works of art, jewelry, silver and gold objects, and any other suspected stolen items.

Once negotiations are completed, all items held for identification, and no owner determined will be used for distribution to towns and impoverished people, or sold and funds used for the restoration of towns and the poor. Careful supervision will be provided to prevent fraud and financial crimes. People engaging in such crimes will be appropriately punished.

I wonder how many woke up to join the “discouraged side of the bed” upon hearing Trump’s urging that all Christians vote for him as he will fix the country so well they will not need to vote again. How many have interpreted this to mean, that NO VOTE will be allowed again once Trump/Vance are in charge. Here are some other negatives to consider, even with Sununu’s opinion that this statement by Trump should be of no concern.

How many Muslims, Jews, Hindus, and non religion affiliated people will be put off by this direct appeal to Trump’s beloved Christians?

Many Muslims withheld their primary votes from Biden because of his support for Israel. Jews are probably concerned over US negativity to current Israeli leadership. Will this extravagant appeal to Christians move them from a Republican or stay-at-home vote to active Dem support? If I remember correctly, a lot of the Muslim non-votes were in swing state Michigan.

Since Trump has never appeared especially religious, how many will be turned off by this showy appeal to beloved Christians as phony vote pandering?

Some Republicans really believe in the Constitution and our founding fathers concern to eliminate religion from political contention and governance. How will they react with their votes or political contributions of money or time to Trump’s religious stand?

For students of history, and some are even here at FR, the horror of the European religious wars which framed our founding fathers downplaying of religion still makes sense. We have only to consider the current religious conflict between Muslim Sunni and Shia, or against other branches of Islam. The Iran/Saudi Arabia split immediately comes to mind.
