Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

[ Russians Conduct a Suicidal River Crossing in a Desperate Attempt to Unblock Trapped Troops ]

Today [ July 14 ], there are a lot of updates from the Kharkiv direction.

Here, Russians are trying to advance across the river into southern Vovchansk to cut off Ukrainians in the Citadel from the mainland, while Ukrainian forces are attempting to advance from the Tykhe area to cut off Russian forces from the mainland and take them into a pocket.

The primary goal of the Russian forces in Vovchansk is twofold: to relieve their besieged troops at the aggregate plant and to weaken Ukrainian positions in the Citadel. Russian forces at the aggregate plant have been surrounded and under siege by Ukrainian troops for over a month.

The aggregate plant consists of several large, reinforced buildings that serve as formidable fortifications.

Due to these formidable fortifications, the Ukrainians opted not to assault the plant directly to avoid unnecessary losses. Instead, they conducted air strikes and artillery shelling against the Russians holed up there.

As a result, Ukrainian aviators and artillery operators inflicted severe losses on the isolated Russian forces. The only reason the Russians have survived in the aggregate plant is that their main force has been able to supply them with food, medicine, and ammunition via drones.

The Russian forces plan to link up with the troops at the aggregate plant by advancing south and reinforcing them. Once reinforced and resupplied, they aim to use the plant as a stronghold to set up firing positions to suppress Ukrainian positions east of the plant.

This would enable them to advance against weaker Ukrainian positions in residential areas, potentially cutting off the Ukrainian forces in the Citadel or forcing them to withdraw. Achieving this would grant the Russians complete control of the northern part of Vovchansk, setting the stage for further operations southwards.

The worst-case scenario for the Russians would be the surrender of their isolated force in the aggregate plant. This would put the Russians back at square one, allowing the Ukrainians to regain the powerful firing positions needed to halt further assaults.

The loss of over 200 troops at the aggregate plant could severely crush the morale of the main Russian force outside and lead to widespread desertions.

To avoid this scenario, Russian commanders have deployed additional reinforcements to Vovchansk for further assaults. The Russian forces in the greater Kharkiv area are often neglected and under-resourced, leading to a prolonged stalemate. However, with these additional troops, the Russian forces managed to advance by 500 meters.

In addition to linking up with the troops at the aggregate plant, they also established positions on the opposite bank of the Vovcha River. This development poses a significant threat to the Ukrainian fighters, as the Russians can now target the only remaining bridge supplying the Ukrainian garrison north of the town.

Such a significant Russian advance can be attributed to the fact that Ukrainians reduced the number of troops south of the town and redeployed them eastwards to Tykhe. In recent days, Ukrainians have been accumulating a large number of troops in this village for a planned decisive attack that could cut off and encircle the Russian forces in all of Vovchansk.

Russian command was aware of this issue, so they began building a network of trenches and fortifications in front of Tykhe. Unfortunately for the Russians, all the heavy equipment and excavators used to construct these defenses were destroyed.

Videos published by Ukrainian drone operators show that they successfully destroyed dozens of excavators and trucks carrying building materials for defensive positions.

The absence of Russian electronic warfare systems or any other countermeasures against the drones indicates that they were constructing these trenches and fortifications in a desperate hurry.

Overall, the Ukrainians made a daring move in the Vovchansk area trading off some positions in the town to launch a powerful flank attack, to encircle Russians in the town

The drone strikes against the Russian equipment and positions in the area go to show that Ukrainian fighters will most certainly attack, since mass drone strikes are always meant to soften up defenses before the ground assaults

I’m impressed. You know your history.

If only Indicted War Criminal Little Pukin could learn from history... Something about starting wars in Europe...

We have to teach him again.

🤔💥 At night in Belgorod region, a train derailed at the Lebedynskoe Gornycho beneficiation plant. According to other data, two trains collided head-on at 85 km/h. 👀

There is a lot of damage shown in the video.

Several other x.com blog posts discuss this train derailment, however, this is the only blog post claiming a possible head-on collision.

I believe partisans were "involved".

A S-400/S-300 missile division of the 12th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment was targetted overnight in Cape Fiolent, occupied Crimea. Reports indicate eight explosions, contradicting claims that all Ukrainian drones were shot down.

A radar station was likely damaged, and there was an explosion at an S-400 position. The military unit is located among summer home cooperatives, also causing drone debris to fall on the houses.

As of July 15, Russia withdrew the last patrol ship of its Black Sea Fleet from the occupied Crimea, as stated by Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Naval Forces.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation had 74 warships. During almost 2.5 years of invasion, Ukraine destroyed or disabled at least a third of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.

Ukraine managed to damage or sink dozens of ships using unmanned maritime drones Magura (GUR of the Ministry of Defense), Sea Baby (SBU) and other similar methods, which are implemented by the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

I dunno. When analyzing Russian train wrecks, a rule of thumb would be not to attribute to sabotage that which could as readily be attributed to vodka.

No USAF RQ-4B Global Hawk ISR flights over the Black Sea in over 3 weeks.

Assume that Biden chickened out on future Black Sea Global Hawk ISR flights after Russian 6/27 shoot down threat.

I suspect there are still some ISR missions taking place. Not showing up on commercial flight trackers just means no ADS-B transponder enabled. Turning off ADS-B makes the issue a little less sensitive, since Russian propaganda media stops reporting on it.

With the RQ-4 being retired (most are already retired, with the last airframes to be retired in 2027) I would not be surprised if the stealthy RQ-180 is seeing some action. Actually I'd be surprised if it isn't.

“Russians actually controlled only around 33,000 square miles, which is just 14% of the 233,013 square miles total Ukraine area.”

Nice map, as usual. And this failure to advance in occupied territory explains why one of Putin’s major peace demands is to be given control of all the territory of the Oblasts currently only partially occupied and controlled. Like Ukraine would ever agree to that! So, totally Putin noise making.
