Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

When admitting to shooting down the A50 over the Sea of Azov, seems like also admitting they used a SkyCeptor (PAAC-4) missile, which has a aerial range of 110 miles, & would be about right distance from UKR lines, unless the system was mounted on a barge or ship. What do you think?

I think the US consistently provides specs that significantly understate system capabilities, or give capabilities under worst case scenarios. It's also possible we are playing with upgrades and modifications to Patriot.

Ship losses like the Cruiser Moskva and the Destroyer Adm Levchenko are irreversible. Russia hasn’t built anything bigger than a frigate for 30 years. Even their frigates, save for their 3 newest Admiral Gorshkov class, are more like corvettes when compared to western frigates. Moscow’s fleet of major combatant warships has dwindled to just 4 cruisers and 10 destroyers, all of them over 30 years old.

“Admiral Levchenko is burning in the Barents Sea.”

Will this anti-submarine ship itself become a submarine?

Stay tuned folks.

At least war is not boring.

Kyiv Independent reports:

“Russia started using submarines to patrol the Black Sea after a number of ships were attacked by Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces and the Navy, said on national television on June 10.

Ukraine has repeatedly struck Russia’s vessels since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Around 30% of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet had been destroyed as of December 2023, according to the Ukrainian military.

“They (Russia) have already established practice where these submarines rotate in the morning. In the Azov-Black Sea region, they have four submarines, three of which are cruise missile carriers. Two submarines periodically go to sea,” Pletenchuk said.

Russia is reportedly trying to organize naval exercises in the Azov Sea. To protect the ships from Ukrainian drone attacks, Russia is building barge-like structures, according to the spokesperson.

There are currently three Russian landing ships and three Buyan-M project small missile ships in the Azov Sea, Pletenchuk said.

Ukrainian forces reportedly crippled the Rostov-on-Don, one of the Russian fleet’s four missile-capable submarines, in occupied Sevastopol in September 2023.

In one of the latest successful attacks, Ukrainian Magura V5 naval drones hit four Russian patrol boats of the KS-701 Tunets (Tuna) model in Crimea on May 30, Ukraine’s military intelligence said. Two of them were reportedly destroyed, and two others damaged.”

[ Russian Bases Hit with 308 HIMARS Rockets! ]

Day 838: Jun 10

Today, there are a lot of updates from the Kharkiv direction.

Here, after Ukrainians had seized the initiative in all directions in the region, Russians decided to respond by resorting to their dominant tactic of sending waves of infantry groups, using significant amounts of their reserves in a desperate attempt to preserve the initiative.

However, Ukrainians unleashed all available weapons, including HIMARS rockets that were just waiting for the green light from Western partners, particularly the United States.

Since the full-scale war began in February 2022, the American administration has prohibited Ukrainians from striking Russian territory with Western-made weapons. Consequently, Ukrainians had to watch as Russians prepared for another offensive against Kharkiv without being able to preemptively target enemy forces.

This culminated in another Russian attempt to seize Kharkiv last month. In response, Ukrainians intensified diplomatic efforts to gain permission to strike key bases, equipment, ammunition depots, and anti-aircraft systems in Russia’s Belgorod region. Finally, President Joe Biden granted this request, albeit limited to the area near Kharkiv.

Ukrainians had already planned their next actions and were awaiting permission to start their wave of strikes. In order to open the air space for the usage of HIMARS and other weapons, their first targets became Russian radars and air defense systems.

Within hours they were able to successfully locate and destroy one of the most modern enemy surveillance radars - Kasta 2E2.

The geolocated footage from the Belgorod region shows how they are using one of their locally developed loitering munition systems - RAM 2.

The first drone targets the truck carrying the antenna and the second successfully destroys the command post vehicle.

This was immediately followed by a massive launch of HIMARS rockets which can be seen in this video released by the Ukrainian forces. Being blinded by the destruction of powerful radars, the Russians reported that various elements of anti-aircraft systems S-300 and S-400 were hit.

Soon the Russians shared images and videos that confirm the damage to these vital weapons, which they are using not only defensively for interception of air threats, but also offensively for striking ground targets.

Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the frontline reported that soon after those initial strikes, their armed forces began using fighter jets, helicopters, and artillery more intensely than before. A geolocated video from the Kharkiv region shows Ukrainian helicopters returning after performing combat tasks in the vicinity of Vovchansk.

The next video shows the devastating work of Ukrainians jets against concentrations of enemy forces in the city. Once again, Ukrainians waited until Russians gather in a large local building and then targeted it with gliding bombs to eliminate them. It is important to know that this building was located very close to the Ukrainian positions in the high-rise building district of Vovchansk.

The Russians were attempting to gather a large force for a storm operation against the Ukrainian stronghold north of the Vovcha River which has caused them problems for weeks now. Russian forces that survived the attack were quick to capture the aftermath of this devastating strike.

The magnitude of all these Ukrainian attacks prompted the Russian Ministry of Defense to claim that the Ukrainian command has transferred up to 12 m270 self-propelled multiple rocket launch systems in the Kharkiv region to support counteroffensive measures in this direction.

This exact model can fire up to 12 rockets in comparison to the more common M-142 launcher which can fire up to 6 rockets.

Even though there is no precise information on exactly how many systems the Ukrainians have received from their partners, they were quick to add fuel to the fire of speculations by publishing images of dozens of empty HIMARS rocket tubes, with the additional hint that those were used just within the last day or two against targets in the Belgorod region.

Military analysts calculated that according to the published footage more than 300 rocket were fired by the Ukrainian forces.

Underlining once again how influential the American aid for the country has become in the last month.

Overall, while Russians tried to limit the Ukrainian counter offensive in the har direction by flooding the battlefield with personnel, the long awaited approval from the United States that Ukrainian commanders finally received, changed everything.

Ukrainian forces were finally allowed to target key enemy military assets across the border and didn’t hesitate to demonstrate the benefits of of this decision and the steady flow of Western military aid.

Ukrainian Air Force destroyed Russian Raiders and our defense systems and Unleashed Aviation to target enemy forces buildup points on the front, while Russian forces struggled to deal with strikes for which they did not account.

This helped to not only make Russian offensive actions in the region more difficult, but also to create even better conditions for the Ukrainian counteraction to push the enemy behind the Border more effectively.

We lost the Tu-22M3 bomber. Questions remain regarding the Su-57

Unfortunately, we lost the Tu-22M3 strategic bomber. It was hit by an enemy drone at the Mozdok airfield a few days ago ( we wrote about this ). “Very serious damage, the plane was completely disabled. We use some of the parts to repair other such bombers,” a source in the Aerospace Forces told us.

At the same time, there is hope that the Su-57 fighter, damaged by a drone strike on the airfield in Akhtubinsk, will be repaired.

“The repairs will take at least a year. Experts say: the probability that the plane can be saved is at least 30%. But the damage is serious, questions remain,” an interlocutor at the Ministry of Defense told us about this.

Our sources also confirm damage to the second Su-57 in Akhtubinsk. This plane can definitely be fixed.

I have not been able to find any other documentation of the Tu-22M3 bomber loss.

However, in the spirit of cooperation, I will take their word for it.

One of the most expensive targets destroyed using FPV.

The BorisoGlebsk-2 electronic warfare system is one of the most powerful in russian arsenal.

The cost is $200,000,000.

One of the vehicles of this complex was destroyed by soldiers of the Taistra unit of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade "Edelweiss"

https://x.com/albafella1/status/1800475090024362071

I don't believe the $200,000,000 price tag.

Perhaps the cost is 200,000,000 rubles or $22,403,800.

Still a worthwhile target.

Sounds like the casualty count is going up again.

If this Congress passes another big supplement for Ukraine for FY 2025 before adjourning, that should be enough to effectively demilitarize the old Soviet arsenal.
