This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

[ Release The Kraken! Ukraine’s Most Elite Special Ops Wreak Havoc on Russian Forces ]
—
Day 816: May 19
Today, there are a lot of updates from the Bakhmut direction.
The most interesting updates come from the northern flank of Chasiv Yar. Here, the Ukrainians repelled head-on Russian assaults into the town and forced them to change their approach in an attempt to take it.
In the last two weeks, this front section was stale, with minimal action from the Russians, who decided to halt all assaults with a brief operational pause.
This was done to redeploy and accumulate forces for attacks to the north of the town from the direction of Bohdanivka and to the south from Ivanivske.
This decision was made after Ukrainians deployed the elite Kraken special operations unit to the Kanal district of the town, where the bulk of Russian assaults took place.
Kraken fighters published a video from Chasiv Yar shortly after their deployment to the area. In the video, we can see the conditions that Kraken and other Canal district troops face.
The Russian bombardment was not constant, so the Kraken and other troops relocated around the town in armored vehicles to their assigned firing positions.
The troops that were moving on foot must exercise caution from Russian artillery and drone strikes, so they must run fast in small groups to avoid being hit.
At times of heavy aerial bombardment and artillery shelling, basements of residential buildings are used as shelters for troops to wait out until it is over.
We can also see a Kraken fighter firing an AT4 shoulder-fired anti-tank weapon from the position in a high-rise building.
AT4 has an effective firing range of 300 meters, implying that Russians manage to get close to Ukrainian positions during their assaults.
At the same time, Ukrainian artillery and drone operators provide fire support to the forces in the Canal District, suppressing detected Russian artillery and troop concentrations.
In videos published by the 43rd Artillery Brigade, we can see the counter-battery work of German-made Panzerhaubitsze 2000 against 3 Russian artillery pieces, D-20, D-30, and a scarce heavy mortar, “Tylupan.”
We could also see the destruction of a TOS thermobaric system. This is the most dangerous Russian artillery system and is very scarce, so it is a high-priority target for the Ukrainians.
As I said in previous reports, Russians had no success storming the front of the town at Canal residential District, so they made an effort to destroy bridges over the canal.
As a result of these operations, Russians did manage to destroy 2 crossings, one in the town and one to the north. However, this only created a short-term supply shortage of heavy equipment as Ukrainians could fix the bridges quickly.
In addition, there are many small makeshift bridges for infantry over the canal, so Ukrainian ground troops have no problem reinforcing the units in the eastern Canal District.
After destroying the bridges over the canal and months of heavy bombardment, the Russians launched a powerful assault on the Canal District in hopes of a breakthrough and takeover of the high-rise area.
However, the assault group of 6 BMD infantry fighting vehicles was quickly detected by drone operators of the Kraken Regiment.
The drones corrected the fire of the Kraken artillery detachment’s M777 artillery operators, which knocked out 2 out of 6 BMDs on the road to Chasiv Yar.
With a third of the assault group destroyed, only 4 BMDs loaded with infantry entered the town and dismounted infantry heading for the high-rise buildings.
One of the BMDs was destroyed entirely by an accurate shot of the Kraken artillery detachment, killing everyone who was inside and leaving a burning wreck.
Subsequently, another BMD was damaged and disabled by precise artillery fire from artillery operators of Kraken, which led to its crew abandoning it.
Only 2 BMDs managed to get back to their leading positions, but one of them was yet again destroyed by an accurate artillery shot, leaving only 1 of 6 BMDs to return.
A few dismounted infantrymen tried to take positions in the high-rise buildings, but got quickly targeted and destroyed.
As a result, the Kraken Special Forces Detachment successfully denied any Russian attempts to establish a foothold in the Canal District.
Russians realized it was impossible to push the Kraken forces out of the Canal District or cut it off from supplies by strikes on the bridges. Therefore, they devised a new plan after 2 weeks of operational pause.
Russians focused on the northern and southern flanks of the town to encircle the Canal District by crossing the canal and moving the fight to the western part of the town.
In principle, this way Russians could advance deep into Chasiv Yar, without capturing the problematic high-rise Canal District.
Such flank attacks into the West part of the town would also threaten to cut off the District, so Ukrainians would be forced to withdraw from it.
The 2 directions of flank attacks were directed to parts of the Seversky Donets Canal that go underground by a pipeline so Russians would not need to cross the canal proper.
The most intense clashes occurred on the southern flank where Russians already had some established positions from which they would expand their bridgehead.
Here, the Russian started by pummeling the Ukrainian positions with TOS thermobaric artillery systems, which not only inflict severe damage, but also suck out the breathable area from the impact area to soft up Ukrainian defenses.
Due to Russian superiority in firepower and the intensity of ground assaults Ukrainians had to withdraw to more favorable positions.
This gave the Russians control of a 2 km long section of the canal, including the section with underground pipes from these positions they could start assaulting the canal’s other side threatening the town’s western part.
For now the Russians only launched small reconnaissance operations across the canal because they were waiting for the offensive group at the northern flank to reach the canal also.
On the Northern flank, the situation for the Ukrainians is much more stable.
Russians are trying to take the village of Kalinina to reach the underground canal section for plant flank attack operations in this area.
From the direction of Bohdanivka, Russians launched further assaults on Kalinina, but since they were in the lowlands, all assaults were repelled
Ukrainians took advantage of Russian weakness caused by losses in the assault and launched a series of successful assaults towards Bohdanivka.
Ukrainian fighters from the 24th Mechanized Brigade published combat footage showing their counter attack.
In the video, we can see that a few Russians returned to their positions after the failed assaults leaving a few of them scared and hidden in their dugouts.
Ukrainian fighters used small arms fire and grenades to clear out the dugouts from suppressed Russian fighters.
During the cleaning operations, Ukrainian fighters even managed to destroy a few ammunition caches in the dugouts, simultaneously killing additional Russian troops.
By the end of their cleaning operations, a single Russian soldier surrendered, likely because no one else survived.
As a result of the successful counterattack Ukrainians managed to enter the southern part of Bohdanivka, yet again.
This is good for the Ukrainians because the Russians will now have to struggle to regain these lost positions to assault Kalinina again; without that, they won’t be able to establish a bridgehead for further assaults on the northern flank.
To prevent Ukrainians from upper cutting their bridgehead from the Canal District, Russians advanced from the small forest and took up a few positions in a residential areas of houses.
Russians also launched a series of minor assaults to the front of the town with a turtle tank and 2 IFVs that unloaded infantry from positions in front of high-rise buildings.
The high-rise building overlooking Russian positions in the area, was so heavily damaged by bombings to the point it became less sustainable for defense, enabling Russian assault groups to land and take positions in front of it.
In other videos, we could see a Ukrainian tank firing at Russian positions in the Canal District which confirms that Russians established positions there.
Overall, thanks to fighters of the Kraken regiment, Ukrainians managed to repulse dozens of Russian assaults in the direction of Chasiv Yar, and completely changed the course of the battle for Chasiv Yar.
As a result Russians had to change their plans and switch focus to flank attacks around the town.
This only led to a similar situation where Russians faced well fortified Ukrainian positions in an advantageous elevated area of Kalinina, placing their assaults to a hold.
Yep a 2 fer day!

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, May 19, 2024
https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-may-19-2024
A prominent Russian milblogger posted a photo on May 18 of an undated document allegedly from the Russian MoD’s Head of the Missile and Artillery Weapons Service responding to an appeal about the inaccuracy of Russian artillery.
The document claimed that any issues with artillery ammunition are due to Russian servicemen’s improper handling of the rounds and demanded that Russian servicemen follow the Russian Chief of the General Staff’s previously issued order prohibiting military personnel from disassembling and weighing artillery ammunition.
The milblogger then described the alleged issues by using general terms as well various code words, such as names of other countries or places from popular science fiction films, that multiple Russian milbloggers have repeatedly used recently to cautiously discuss issues in the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD).
The milblogger claimed that Russian military personnel noticed that artillery systems were performing strangely, subsequently discovered that the amount of gunpowder in the ammunition shells widely varied, and reported the issue to the Russian military command but to no avail.
Another Russian milblogger responded and used some of the same code words to criticize the Russian MoD and to express hope that Belousov will make reforms that solve the larger bureaucratic issues in the MoD
A third milblogger, who previously served as a “Storm-Z” unit instructor, however, was direct with his criticisms of the Russian military and claimed that he has previously heard information from Russian servicemen about the inconsistent amounts of gunpowder in some artillery shells.
The milblogger claimed that this issue began in Spring 2022 and that the alleged order from the Russian General Staff described in the document indicates that the Russian military leadership has been aware of the issue for some time.
The milblogger criticized the Russian military command for not finding a solution and claimed that Russian artillery systems are also suffering from barrel wear (which is very likely given their extremely heavy use).

In memory of Russell Bentley
Strange things are happening around the death of the faithful fighter for the Russian world, Russell Bentley (call sign “Texas”). Let us remind you that he was killed in the DPR after being raped on April 8.
And here it is important to remember with what foaming at the mouth many military officers and former friends of “Texas” promised to achieve the truth. In the best traditions of “we will not forget, we will not forgive.”
Recently it was 40 days since his death. Do many people remember? Maybe someone asked the question, why suddenly “Texas” hasn’t been buried yet?
Maybe someone wondered, where are the real killers of the American? After all, it is known that they were military men, and even their names are known. But, excuse me, they are trying to bully us, giving us fake “culprits.”
Russell Bentley’s wife Lyudmila told us that she was offered to quietly bury her husband in a closed coffin. However, the coffin itself will not be allowed to be opened. She, of course, refused. It is difficult to imagine what was done to him in the last minutes of his life.
This is absolute injustice on the part of the DPR authorities. Russell gave 10 years of his life to the fight for Donbass, and what in return?
They detained him on a trumped-up charge of espionage, then one of the officers couldn’t keep his genitals in his pants, and then they completely killed the old man.
Despite the behavior of our colleagues, we are not going to leave it like that! Apparently, the issue can only be resolved through Moscow.

“They just shoot him.” Putin told Xi Jinping about problems with the defense of Crimea
During his visit to China and meeting with Xi Jinping in a tete-a-tete format, Vladimir Vladimirovich paid special attention to the problems with the air defense of Crimea.
According to sources in the Kremlin, the President made it clear to his Chinese partners that “we would not refuse help in strengthening the air defense of the peninsula.”
“Vladimir Vladimirovich said that our air defense does not always cope with Western missiles launched by Ukraine. And as a result, Crimea is sometimes ‘simply shot’ (the conversation, let us remind you, took place before the attack on Crimea, which the enemy struck on the night of May 19.
“At the request of our friends in the Ministry of Defense, we decided to remain silent about its consequences for now - ed.). The President said that we would not refuse the ideas and help of our Chinese friends in this direction,” one of the interlocutors said.
Another noted that Xi Jinping “did not understand or did not want to understand” this hint. And he did not answer the actually direct question about possible supplies of Chinese air defense systems to Russia.
This fact “slightly spoiled” the impression of Putin’s visit to China, sources admit. Although in general they call the visit itself good and successful.

Enemy ATACMS killed 17 sailors in Sevastopol. We also lost several missiles
After the publication of this publication, we unexpectedly received many complaints. They say that on the night of Sunday, May 19, the enemy hit almost several of our ships, many died, and so on. And we are silent about it. Well, we are forced to answer.
We won’t say where the ATACMS launched by the enemy on Sunday night ended up. Very important people whom we trust asked us not to do this and not to give information to the enemy.
Let us note that everything is unpleasant, but not as tragic as Kiev propaganda and some of our military correspondents report.
At the same time, unfortunately, we confirm the death of 17 sailors in Sevastopol. And the loss of 4 units of cruise missiles. Most of them drowned.
We hope that after this publication no one will ever think of making accusations that we are hiding the losses of our army. We talk about them so that these losses become fewer.

How the death of the Iranian President will affect Russia
After a meeting with Azerbaijani leader Aliyev, Iranian President Raisi died in a plane crash . Along with him on board were Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Governor of East Azerbaijan Province of Iran Malik Rahmati and Ayatollah Mohammed Ali Ale-Hashem. They all died.
Many conspiracy theories and “analytical forecasts” have already appeared. We deliberately took a short break to talk with a number of specialists who are deeply immersed in our contacts with Iran.
Fact 1. With a 95% probability, Raisi’s death was the result of an accident. The involvement of Israeli or Western intelligence agencies is being considered, but in reality this is unlikely.
Fact 2. An urgent meeting between Vladimir Putin and the Iranian ambassador was necessary to secure the continuity of arms supplies from Iran to Russia. This is an important moment in relations between the two countries. The fact that the President personally met with the Ambassador shows our high interest in this issue.
Fact 3. Iran’s foreign policy vector is unlikely to change. And this is good news for us. Raisi was essentially the 2nd person in the state, albeit a very influential one. Ali Khamenei remains the Supreme Leader; now the issue of not only the election of the country’s President, but also, in fact, Khamenei’s heir will become relevant.
In this regard, interesting processes may begin in Iran. Our intelligence services have their own plan for this. By the way, it does not entirely coincide with the Chinese vision of the situation in Iran.
Forecast: Iran will remain in the vector of the anti-Western agenda. However, internal conflicts and the struggle for power in general, may affect the pace of arms supplies to the Russian Federation.
Due to different opinions on the future of Iran between Moscow and Beijing, minor friction is possible between the allies.

Shocked, I’m not.
“Analysis: “They’re going to have to spin it so that it isn’t stealing,” former prosecutor says
From CNN’s Antoinette Radford
Former Federal Prosecutor Alyse Adamson said she was “quite frankly shocked” when she heard the revelations that Donald Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen had stolen from the Trump account.
Adamson said now the prosecution will have to work extra hard to change the narrative for the jury.
“They’re going to need to spin it so that it isn’t stealing.”
“If this were my case I would be feverishly writing my ideas for rehabilitation and redirection,” she said.
Adamson added that she didn’t understand why the prosecution hadn’t addressed the issues earlier in the case, especially when they had been meticulous with their explanation of some of Cohen’s other lies.
“I think here, there has been so much damage that they are going to have to go in.””
“Iran President Helicopter Crash Exposes Dangers of Country’s Ancient Fleet”
“The helicopter crash that killed Iran President Ebrahim Raisi is the latest reminder of the poor state of many aircraft operating in the Islamic Republic after almost half a century of US sanctions.”
“Iran has been largely barred from purchasing new aircraft or aircraft components from US or European suppliers since the revolution of 1979, leaving both military and civilian operators cut off from heavyweights Boeing Co. and Airbus SE and reliant on patched-up vehicles from earlier eras.”
“Europe Sees Signs of Russian Sabotage but Hesitates to Blame Kremlin”
“European investigators increasingly see Russian fingerprints around recent acts of suspected sabotage on strategic infrastructure but are struggling to respond.
Reacting to clandestine threats is difficult because evidence around the suspected attacks—including a severed undersea gas pipeline, cuts in a vital internet connection and the disruption of a rail network—often isn’t conclusive. Potential culprits in big cases include commercial shipping or fishing vessels that have been engaged in apparently legitimate maritime transport or trawling for fish near sensitive seabed installations that were destroyed around the same time. They rarely have direct connections to Russian authorities, investigators say.
European governments have charged some Russians and Russian proxies in smaller incidents and are getting more vocal in accusing Moscow of waging hybrid warfare, but are stopping short of accusing Russia of specific attacks. In the most brazen suspected incidents, a lack of clear proof has prompted officials to leave cases open or declare investigations inconclusive.
Last fall, Finnish investigators linked a Chinese-registered ship, operated by a Russian crew, to the cutting of the Balticconnector natural-gas pipeline to mainland Europe. As the investigation advanced and the ship sailed around Scandinavia back toward Russia, the Finns contacted Norwegian counterparts about their suspicions. Norwegian authorities contemplated forcing the ship into one of their harbors for inspection, but ultimately decided they lacked clear evidence. A Norwegian coast-guard ship shadowed the Newnew Polar Bear as it was passing sensitive marine infrastructure.
“Only a week or two later we would have had enough evidence to stop and search the ship, but by then it was already too late,” one Norwegian official said.”
This particular helicopters where made in 1967.
On 19 May, Ukraine likely destroyed the last such vessel, the Cyclone, according to 🇺🇦 Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk. Verification is ongoing, but the probability is high.
