Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

One of the worst nights in Kyiv”, Putin deliberately launched the attack right after his call with Trump, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha. “Enough waiting. Putin shows blatant disregard for the U.S. and all who call for peace. The harshest sanctions must be imposed on Moscow immediately”

Transneft Vice President Dies in Apparent Fall From Window, Reports Say

The vice president of Russia's state-owned oil pipeline monopoly Transneft has died after allegedly falling from a window at his home in the upscale Moscow suburb of Rublyovka, state media reported Friday. Transneft confirmed Andrei Badalov’s death at age 62 but did not comment on the circumstances. The company said his work came during a “difficult and stressful period” marked by Western sanctions.

Badalov’s body was found beneath the windows of a home on the Rublyovo-Uspenskoye highway, the state-run TASS news agency reported, citing an unnamed law enforcement source. “The preliminary cause of death is suicide,” the source said, adding that a preliminary investigation was underway.

Badalov had overseen Transneft’s digital transformation since his appointment as vice president in July 2021. His death is the latest in a string of high-profile and unexplained deaths among senior executives in Russia's energy sector since the country launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

At least four deaths in 2022 were linked to the state energy giant Gazprom, while others involved executives from Novatek and Lukoil.

““unconfirmed reports that Alexei Komkov, head of the FSB’s Fifth Directorate, which is officially tasked with overseeing operational information and international relations, died after a car exploded in central Moscow City.”

Car bombs are a signature method of the Russian mafia, so it might have been a mob shakedown/enforcement action. Mafia hit men may have been hired by his internal rivals, or by Ukrainian Intelligence.

“total mobilization in Russia”

…would trigger commensurate responses in the West - likely including Bone-crushing Secondary sanctions on buyers of Russian oil, and blockade of shadow tankers through the Balitic Sea. Although frankly, just the ongoing bombardment of civilians by Russia should warrant those steps.

Russia is just not financially able to mobilize like that, without inducing catastrophic economic effects, and triggering total sanctions on itself.

More people of influence need to understand the importance of Alexandr Dugin and his book Foundations of Geopolitics, printed in 1997, the same year Free Republic began. I find it concerning that a number of our favorite Russophiles joined FR in the 2 or 3 years following that book’s publication.

When you click this link, be sure to read the bullet points, especially the last two. These describe proposed plans for how to weaken government in the US, Canada, and the southern Americas. The US description explains much of the unrest and disturbances the US has experienced in this Century. There is a reason why Alexandr Dugin is being called “Putin’s Brain.”

Please pass on this important information to all who care about our country and the free world.

Info about Komkov

22AUG2024 Emails of newly appointed FSB Fifth Service Chief, General Alexei Komkov, reportedly going on sale

The Telegram channel Black Mirror, known for exposing the correspondence of Russian officials and law enforcement personnel, has published a photo of General Alexei Komkov - the newly-appointed head of the FSB’s Fifth Service. The image shows Komkov with friends at a billiard table and is captioned: “from the archive exhibited in a private channel.”

General Komkov recently took over as head of the FSB’s Fifth Service - the Service for Operational Information and International Relations - replacing General Sergey Beseda, who fell out of favor following the failed invasion of Ukraine and a series of corruption scandals. Before his promotion, Komkov was the deputy head of the FSB’s counterintelligence service. In his short time in the new role as head of the Fifth Service, Komkov appears to have made an impact. On Aug. 1, Russia concluded a successful operation to exchange political prisoners for Russian spies embarrassed in the West — including FSB hitman Vadim Krasikov, who was serving a life sentence in Germany up until the swap was agreed.

17MAY2019 Head of FSB Internal Security Directorate, who was involved in the arrest of “Colonel Zakharchenko from counterintelligence,” has moved to another job

The head of the FSB Internal Security Directorate, Alexey Komkov, has moved to another job. As Rosbalt reported on May 17, citing its sources in the special services, he has been appointed deputy head of the FSB Military Counterintelligence Service. According to the publication's sources, the personnel changes took place between the May holidays. It should be noted that Komkov became the head of the Internal Security Directorate in August 2016; before that, he headed the 2nd FSB Service (Service for the Protection of the Constitutional Order and the Fight against Terrorism).

Rosbalt emphasizes that it was the Internal Security Directorate under Komkov’s leadership that detained the head of the banking department of the FSB Directorate “K” Colonel Kirill Cherkalin at the end of April.

Alexey Komkov (Russian: Алексей Комков) was the head of the FSB Internal Security Directorate from September 2016 after the 8 July 2016 resignation of the former head of the FSB Internal Security Directorate Sergey Borisovich Korolev who was promoted to the post of head of the Economic Security Service of the FSB of Russia, which vacated the chair of Korolev in the CSS. Alexey Komkov headed the FSB Internal Security Directorate until 2018 when he was transferred to the FSB Counterintelligence Service. Komkov is a protégé of Sergey Korolev

Sergei Borisovich Korolev (Russian: Сергей Борисович Королёв is a Russian intelligence officer currently serving as first deputy director of the Federal Security Service (FSB). He previously served as head of the Economic Security Service of the FSB from 2016 to 2021. A secretive figure with extensive connections to the Russian mafia, he is considered one of the leading candidates to succeed Alexander Bortnikov as director of the FSB.

Korolev moved to the FSB in September 2011, appointed head of the Internal Security Directorate (known as the 6th Service or CSS (Russian: «Шестерка»))

President Erdogan has arrived in Azerbaijan.

As I've written before, Turkey is and will be taking advantage of Russia's declining positions in the region.

An alliance between Turkey and Azerbaijan will mean a major oil and gas hub that has the potential to replace Russia on the global energy market.

“Putin deliberately launched the attack right after his call with Trump”

Perhaps the time is nearing for President Trump to have to give up on letting Putin out of this war the easy way. Putin should have taken the deal.

Kyiv Independent (4 July):

“U.S. President Donald Trump said he was “very disappointed” with Russian President Vladimir Putin following a phone call on July 3, during which the two leaders discussed the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Trump told reporters he “didn’t make any progress” and accused Putin of showing no willingness to stop the fighting…

….”I’m speaking to President Zelensky tomorrow in the early morning, and I’m very disappointed with the conversation I had today with President Putin,” Trump told journalists. “Because I don’t think he’s there. And I’m very disappointed. I don’t think he’s looking to stop this fighting.”…

…Later on July 4, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia “is paying close attention to all of Trump’s statements,” but added Moscow will continue its full-scale war in Ukraine because “it is not yet possible to achieve goals through diplomatic means.”

The hour-long conversation between Trump and Putin marked the sixth time the two leaders have spoken since Trump took office in January. According to Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov, Putin reiterated that “Russia will continue to pursue its goals,” refusing to back down from what the Kremlin calls the “root causes” of the conflict.”

Then came the call with Zelensky.

Kyiv Independent (4 July):

“President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation on July 4, agreeing to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses, Zelensky announced on Telegram.

The call came as Russia escalated its aerial campaign across Ukraine, including an overnight July 4 attack that struck Kyiv and several other regions, injuring at least 23 civilians and sparking dozens of fires in the capital.

“Today we discussed the situation: Russian air strikes and, more broadly, the situation on the front lines. President Trump is very well informed,” Zelensky said.

“We discussed air defense options and agreed to work on increasing airspace protection. We agreed on a meeting between our teams.”

Zelensky said the two leaders also discussed Ukraine’s defense industry potential and explored possibilities for direct cooperation with U.S. partners.

“We are ready for direct projects with America and believe that this is extremely necessary for security, especially with regard to drones and related technologies,” he added…

…Despite repeated expressions of frustration about Russia’s continued aggression, Trump’s administration has yet to impose new sanctions or approve additional aid for Ukraine since taking office in January.”

Clearly, Putin is going to need more incentive. Sorry to the rest of you Russians out there.

And DoD just got a heap of money for Golden Dome Air Defenses, that will have to face massive drone threats.

Looks like OPEC+ is going to raise output again, over Russian objections. Perhaps they are getting ready for the Bone-Crushing Sanctions Party, on Russia’s oil export market share?

OilPrice.com (4 July):

“The OPEC+ producers unwinding their oil production cuts may bring forward their meeting to Saturday (5 July) instead of on Sunday, with another accelerated output hike likely to be agreed, delegates and sources from the group tell various news outlets ahead of the weekend...

...The OPEC+ 8 countries – Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, UAE, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman – are likely to decide to hike output by another 411,000 bpd for August, anonymous sources from the producer group told Reuters on Friday.

With this hike, the cumulative increase this year would rise to 1.78 million bpd.”

(As of June 2025, Russia’s crude oil exports averaged around 3.21 million barrels per day.)

The new OPLAN for NATO war with Russia is being resourced.

Kyiv Independent (4 Jul):

“Germany is weighing a massive defense procurement plan worth up to 25 billion euros ($29.4 billion) to supply thousands of combat vehicles for NATO’s expanding force structure, Bloomberg reported on July 4, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter...

...Berlin is reportedly considering purchasing up to 2,500 GTK Boxer armored vehicles and up to 1,000 Leopard 2 battle tanks. The purchase would equip up to seven new brigades that Germany has pledged to form under NATO’s force generation plans for the next decade...

...German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and top Bundeswehr officials are reviewing the plans, with legislative approval expected by the end of the year, Bloomberg reported.”
