We don’t need a “Leader of the Free World”. That attitude is part of what’s created the problem...along with one, single nation being the “Arsenal of Democracy”. If Western ideas and “democracy” are so great, then all nations who desire it must pay to defend it on a global stage. But the key word is “defend”, Western ideas are not to be crammed down the throats of all cultures everywhere. When that latter becomes synonymous with “US interests”, then we’re on a perpetual war footing forever more.
