“A strategic win for the USA.”

A strategic loss. Stockpiles depleted. Petroleum stockpile gone. Treasury depleted. Perpetual war status. China emboldened. Hamas emboldened. Red Sea transport at risk.

US is now “self sufficient” in petroleum (net exports vs imports). No thanks to the government, but because US oil producers have increased efficiency.

This news seems to not be getting around. I guess because its not a desirable talking point for either side - Dem enviros hate it, and Reps dont want to credit Biden for something good. But its so anyway.

The strategic petroleum reserve is a moot point under these circumstances. And its being refilled now in any case.

The US has also developed a large export market in LNG. And increased Nat Gas production accordingly.

The stockpile thats depleted in any significant way is 155mm artillery ammo, non-cluster munitions. There may be a problem down the road for GMLRS rockets and Patriot interceptors. The only ones that matter for Iran or China are the Patriots. The US still has vast stockpiles of equipment and ammo that it has no use for.

Hamas/Iran was “emboldened” because the admin is weak. It dribbled military aid to Ukraine because it could not make decisive decisions at all.
