Per email.

"Dear Prime member, We are writing to you today about an upcoming change to your Prime Video experience. Starting January 29, Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements. This will allow us to continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time. We aim to have meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers. No action is required from you, and there is no change to the current price of your Prime membership. We will also offer a new ad-free option for an additional $2.99 per month* that you can sign up for here."

Tom - Right on! Those dirty dogs are going down the DisneyWorld trail. Also known as “boil-the-frog”.

I went onto their site…thanks for the “heads up”. I was wondering what their next move was..Prime is a fair deal with free shipping, streaming video, 2 millions songs, good prices, etc but I won’t be paying the extra $2.99 per month. There’s way too many free and other options out there.
Also, Amazon has been a lifesaver when I could not find certain parts in stores that I could only get on Prime.

Other than “Reacher” and “Jack Ryan” their streaming kind of sucks. Anyway, thanks again for the heads up.

LOL-—I had to post this as I was searching more articles on the subject and came across this article headline on the WSJ:

“Americans Are Canceling More of Their Streaming Services
Hulu, Netflix and other streamers are turning to bundles, discounts and ad-supported plans as customer defections rise”

Then as you scroll down to read the article, you get the following message at the paywall:

“Continue reading your article with a WSJ subscription.

WSJ Digital Bundle

BUNDLE & SAVE”

“Dear Prime member,

Cancelled my Prime yesterday. I rarely buy things online and If I really need it checking the box triggers the prime again which I then can cancel. Kept it on through the fall for Thursday Night Football.
