The modification of the mRNA used in the vaccines is to change a uracil into a pseudouracil as a way to stop the innate immune system from destroying the mRNA as soon as it is injected. Pseudouracil is a naturally occurring nucleotide, just as uracil is. Messenger RNA that contains pseudouracil is still messenger RNA, just like messenger RNA that contains non-standard bases in place of C, A, and G.

Other than making the injected mRNA less noticeable to the innate immune system, the pseudouracil behaves exactly like uracil. The RNA modification enzymes in your body treat it exactly like uracil. This means that the ribosomes read it, the transfer RNAs recognize it, and the RNAses that destroy RNA destroy mRNA containing pseudouracil exactly the same way that they destroy mRNA containing uracil.

The srRNA does not last forever in the body; no RNA does. The benefit of it being self-replicating is that it replaces itself almost as fast as it is destroyed in the cell, meaning that it can direct the production of a desired protein product for an extended period of time compared to regular mRNAs (including vaccine mRNA).

The Epoch Times seems to be on a mission to scare the pants off of conservatives by using words and concepts that they do not understand. I wonder what the ideology of the owners of that publication really is, because I don't think they like conservatives at all.

Speaking of self amplifying, I’ve noticed lately that TV is doing that lately- not just during com ercisls either. Will be watching at a comfortable sound level, then wham- sound incr3ases all on its own- gotta sit with thumb on he volume button at night when oHers are sleepin. When the term ‘gene therapy’ was first coined, the idea was that there would be nucleic acid-based treatments for genetic diseases - like cystic fibrosis. After decades of work it became apparent that gene therapy had lots of road blocks - including inability to sufficiently regulate the amount of gene product made, inability to get the gene or gene-product to the affected cells at high enough and sustainable levels, immune reactions against specific viral vectors, etc.

It became clear that the easiest ‘gene therapy’ targets were those that required only a relatively small number of readily accessible cells targeted (e.g. DNA and RNA vaccines in which genetic material is injected into a relatively small area of muscle in order to produce a protein product that will induce an immune reaction), and those conditions or clinical targets that required a secreted gene product (made in the cells into which the DNA/RNA was injected, and then secreted from those cells into the surrounding tissues or bloodstream).

That's how we came to our current situation. The difficult problems in gene therapy were preventing commercialization, and the easier roads (DNA and RNA vaccines, microRNA) were thus concentrated on.

What I'm trying to say is that our current use of gene-based therapeutics is the result of a technology in search of a commercializable application, not a technology specifically developed to address an unmet need. That difference is a huge one, and going down the this path can be irresponsible and unpredictably harmful.
