What I find especially ironic is that OBL’s letter had been hosted by the Guardian since *2002*, mere months after the 9/11 attacks, when the wounds and scars were fresh!
Yet it only gets taken down in *2023*, just because it goes viral on TikTok.
OBL’s words are somehow more dangerous and subversive in 2023 than they were in 2002?
We’re facing a complete breakdown in societal messaging and institutional control, and they’re freaking out. But why should they be surprised?
Zoomers saying “Osama Bin Laden had some good points” is shocking? Why? The sitting President has threatened the domestic populace with F16s multiple times; a former candidate said she’d throw half the population (the “deplorables”) into camps; tepid anti-war criticism (from both left and right) is now seen as tantamount to sedition.
And people are shocked that young Americans think Osama had some good points, even if they don’t agree with all of it?
(The one thing I’d be most interested in seeing is actual veterans of America’s wars in Afghanistan or Iraq reading Osama’s letter to America...and whether their reaction is more positive or negative.)
Again, this is being presented as a “look at how daft are the youths” story.
And sure…any youngster finding favor with this letter is foolish, at best.
But again, there are going to be maaaany older folks who’ll find favor with Bin Laden’s “conservative values.” The big difference, is the older folks will keep their views to themselves.
However, using the distributive property of mathematics, these older folks’ love of Putin’s faux conservatism puts them in the queue to join the same bucket of malleable matter as the pod-eating brethren.
The reason why kids and elders are equally duped, is because both camps have traded in a consistent, fully-unified system of morality for something more buffet-style. I’ll have a smattering of anti-gay stuff, anti-trans stuff, and yeah a big pile of “we never shoulda legalized pot.” But that Allah stuff, no thanks.
PGalt is right. Marxism and Bin Laden’s letter both are built as traps, to entice the simple with the shining, blinking lights of collectivism. Solve for that problem, and a lot of this goes away.
By the way, where the heck are the parents of the mush heads?
