Previous day’s thread: https://freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/4190247/posts

Calling someone a RuZZian on FR is considered an insult.
Calling someone a Comrade on FR is considered an insult.

Summarizing this war:

A tragedy for Ukraine.
A disaster for RuZZia.
A strategic win for the USA. The biggest winner of the war.

“More than three decades after Reagan left office, most Republicans still believe that America is a force for good.”

Yesterday, for a man similar to Russian President Vladimir Putin, apparently became the most responsible and significant day in his life.

The Double was accepted in China at the highest level.

During the day, the understudy met and communicated with many heads of state, who treated him like Vladimir Putin.

The Double’s meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping was the most exciting for the Double’s handlers, but it passed calmly and without incident.

Xi Jinping unobtrusively examined the “two” with interest, perhaps trying to find differences.

And despite the careful preparation of the understudy for the important meeting, the differences with the real Putin were still visible.

The fault is again with the Double’s “floating” cheekbones, which do not stay in place and move in different directions.

The Double initially had less expressive cheekbones, which, as a result of plastic surgery, were “enlarged” and made similar to Putin’s cheekbones, but it was impossible to make sure they stayed stationary in the right places.

So the understudy appeared in front of Xi Jinping with “wandering” cheekbones.

What Xi Jinping thought when he saw the Double of the Russian President is unknown; perhaps he was thinking about how to pat this “Putin” on the cheek so as not to permanently damage the fragile architecture of the newly created face.

This was the first, short-lived, acquaintance of the Understudy with Xi Jinping, but today negotiations are taking place in the format of personal communication, and these negotiations are much more important.

The Understudy held many meetings yesterday, but the most interesting was the conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Usually the Double behaves with dignity, observing all standards of decency, but in some cases he allows himself to go beyond the bounds.

The Understudy had long been familiar with some of the incriminating evidence on Viktor Orban and during the meeting he behaved too relaxed and even defiantly with the Hungarian Prime Minister.

But Orban is not in a position to be offended; he is pleased that the meeting is taking place in China, and he was not forced to go to Moscow for a bow, as was expected.

The real President of Russia Vladimir Putin felt very bad yesterday, did not accept reports, did not participate in meetings, communicated only with doctors and servants.

Still at it.

It’s over. In the next 6 months there will be a deal worked out. Now the “interests” in the West who wanted this will want it to end: elections 2024 and Middle East, dropping poll numbers for the wars support. Even if there is no official deal, it’ll just sort of fizzle out.

But, Ukraine will have lost 18% of its land: https://arcg.is/09O0OS (scroll down to the most up to date map) and Russia will have taken what their objectives were: seize those areas in the East where you have a largely ethnic Russia population.

Ukraine will have lost an industrial area: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d3/Ukraine_economy.jpg/1280px-Ukraine_economy.jpg Nationally the most important one.

Ukraine will have lost a major port city and iron works as well: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Volodymyr-Shatokha/publication/275027603/figure/fig1/AS:294648884023296@1447261176330/Location-of-major-enterprises-of-iron-and-steel-sector-dotted-line-approximates-contact.png

Ukraine will have suffered a population implosion, going from 41 to 28 million living there: https://www.kyivpost.com/post/15533 But what’s even worse is that you now have a horrible birth rate of 1.3 (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/92/Ukraine_2023_population_pyramid.svg/1024px-Ukraine_2023_population_pyramid.svg.png) and post war Ukraine will have tens of thousands of invalids to deal with, cripples that will cost them for a generation. Many of the folks that left Ukraine for Western Europe and the US will not return.

A massive economic decline in GDP (and this is with US and EU aid): https://d39raawggeifpx.cloudfront.net/styles/16_9_desktop/s3/articleimages/Ukraine_GDP_quarterly_growth_y_y_1.png (In net, the GDP has shrunk about 37% since wars begin and that is with US and EU aid). Do you really think that Western business and financial institutions want to invest in a war zone? This isn’t a repeat of 2014 which was fairly clean. Western economic interests may have pushed Ukraine into this war because they wanted it all, NATO and EU, but now that Ukraine is a basket case you’ll just get some help until the next big thing gets all our attention.

It’s currency has significantly devalued: https://g.co/kgs/nLWpWd (look at it over 5 years) In July 2022 it took a dump and since then has stayed down: https://www.reuters.com/markets/rates-bonds/ukraines-central-bank-devalues-hryvnia-by-25-against-us-dollar-2022-07-21/

It’s infrastructure is damaged and you have areas that are heavily mined: https://www.energycharter.org/fileadmin/DocumentsMedia/Occasional/2022_09_30_UA_sectoral_evaluation_and_damage_assessment_Version_II.pdf Here’s another 2022 assesment: https://reliefweb.int/report/ukraine/ukraine-energy-infrastructure-damage-situation-overview-10-24th-october-2022 Even away from the “front” you have areas in Ukraine today with unreliable electric power, running water, bridges/rail lines that are blown, roads that are cratered, etc.

They are massively in debt: https://tradingeconomics.com/ukraine/external-debt

And worst of all, the political goal and cause for this war, NATO membership, will not have been actualized: https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/10/politics/ukraine-nato-western-dilemma/index.html Now you’ll get excuses, but it won’t happen.

But to add insult to injury, EU membership which was well in Ukraine’s reach BEFORE the war will have slipped through their fingers because the Europeans won’t want to be responsible for this liability now: https://www.dw.com/en/eu-leaders-wont-make-exceptions-for-ukraine-membership/a-61103193 This is not going to happen for a while, and you could have had it easily before the war.

And you have imaginary casualties and wonder weapons to make it sound like you’ve won.

No worries dude. We’ll give you a feel good movie when it’s all done. We always win in our movies.
