Sorry for the pessimism, but I suspect that France is only playing another game of Whack-A-Mole. Put a few extra police and troops on the street. Round up a few radicals. Then stand down until the next attack.
And this isn’t a particular knock against France. The entire West plays the same game. The 9/11 attacks didn’t wake the West up. So perhaps nothing will.

Agreed. But my point was that they didn't describe "where this guy comes from" by saying something like "He's a Muslim from near Chechnya". No. They decided to tell us that he was from "those mountains over there in Russia".
Given half a chance, the media will try to imply that all bad things come from Russia. And, if possible, the media will attempt to deny that bad things come from Islam.
