A Florida alligator that gained widespread attention for its missing upper jaw has been given a fitting name inspired by a country song. The creature has been named "Jawlene," after the famous Dolly Parton song "Jolene," following a public call on social media.

The animal attendant holding the gator kind of looks like a young Dolly, at least from the neck up. The gator herself is small, about the same size as an Iguana.
Inventing the name Jaw-Line is clever, but they might want to get Ms Parton’s expressed permission. She is known to be very protective of her songs, as she should be. They have made her a millionaire many times over.
Alligators are territorial and like a lot of animals, they cull out the weak, the big males will fight and run off the smaller less mature ones, the ones that survive are lucky and end up being really strong fighters, there is a reason alligators have survived for such a long time, natural selection is real in their world.
I was at a crocodile preserve near Cairns in Queensland, Australia, and one of the star performers was an enormous toothless crock named “Dougie”. Dougie got there by being bad, trying, despite his lack of teeth, to eat a golfer. Ignoring a proffered chicken, Dougie went for one of the attendants’ legs, chasing him up a hill snapping at his heels. Later, the attendant admitted that reputation was everything in his business and the shame of being eaten by a toothless crocodile would just be more that he could bear.
