Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly Resurrects Lie About Donald Trump Calling Veterans 'Suckers' and 'Losers'

Remember back when the left-leaning elite media claimed former President Donald Trump made disparaging remarks about wounded veterans? Well, since it appears they have nothing else to do, they are resurrecting that particular false narrative.

Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, who served under Trump, gave an exclusive interview to CNN in which he “confirmed” that the former president had referred to wounded veterans as “losers” and “suckers.”

Kelly set the record straight with on-the-record confirmation of a number of damning stories about statements Trump made behind closed doors attacking US service members and veterans, listing a number of objectionable comments Kelly witnessed Trump make firsthand.

“What can I add that has not already been said?” Kelly said, when asked if he wanted to weigh in on his former boss in light of recent comments made by other former Trump officials. “A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them.’ A person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’ A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family – for all Gold Star families – on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France.”

Haven’t we gone through this already?

As it turns out, we have.

The original claims about Trump’s comments came from an article in The Atlantic that said the former president refused to visit a World War I memorial in France when he made the comments. However, everyone in Trump’s orbit – including some who later turned on him, denied these claims.

Former and current White House officials angrily denied a report that President Trump disparaged American war dead, saying instead that he was “livid” that bad weather meant he could not visit a French cemetery for U.S. soldiers killed in World War I.

The controversy stems from 2018, when Trump was expected to lay a wreath at Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial, a trip abandoned at the last moment on the grounds that heavy rain made conditions unsuitable for helicopter travel.

It was later revealed through emails that Trump did not show up to the memorial because of “bad weather,” not because he was disrespecting Americans who fought in WWI.

White House official has sent an image of redacted email apparently showing "bad weather call" was indeed cause of Trump not attending Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in 2018.

Dan Scavino and Stephen Miller were also both there - and deny Atlantic story

Even the former National Security Advisor to Trump, John Bolton, who has no love for the former president, denied that he made the comments and even corroborated the contents of the email explaining why Trump did not go to the memorial.

The opening to the much-discussed Atlantic article, and the same events as described in John Bolton's memoir.

Perhaps CNN should have looked deeper into this story before trying to get a former Trump official to repeat a blatant falsehood to score cheap political points.

The problem is, the environment is so toxic, who will be willing to take the arrows that will come from working for Trump. We’re talking going after those peoples’ families.

Are you willing to give up your cushy life to go work for Trump?

How many people have to say what Trump does before you’re willing to believe them? We know Trump said McCain was a loser for being a P.O.W. Many people around Trump say he says the same disrespectful garbage when not on camera. Why believe Trump (a known self-absorbed liar) over all these other people? Sessions was about as decent and honorable as one can get, but if he said anything negative about Trump, suddenly he couldn’t be trusted. Why can’t his followers accept that this is what Trump is?

Just because someone parades around in a uniform shouldn't give them any cred. While McCain was singing like a canary to the VC, President Trump was fighting his personal VietNam as a Captain of Enterprise. And I guarantee he handled far more Assets at the time than any of those losers.

Oh please. "Personal Vietnam as a Captain of Enterprise"?

Like it or not, Ppesident Trump avoided the draft and declined to serve. His choice, but he can be evaluated on that choice. It speaks to character.

RE: How many people have to say what Trump does before you’re willing to believe them?

Well, for one too many lies have been said about Trump ( Russian Collusion, Ukraine and the first impeachment, he fomented an insurrection on January 6, etc. ). I’ll believe that it was Trump who said X if I see or hear him say X on video or audio but not until.

Anything else is disputable.

RE: Sessions was about as decent and honorable as one can get, but if he said anything negative about Trump, suddenly he couldn’t be trusted

Jeff Sessions might be a decent man, but he, through his timidity and inaction, unleashed a 3 year “Russian Collusion” fraud on the nation, costing tens of millions of dollars for nothing.

No. That's why if Trump wins his second term. He'll be a lame duck immediately.

I also was NavAir most of my 11 years. Planned on at least 20 but life and family and a great civilian job opportunity convinced me to discharge. Plus my rating was closing up and CPO was looking more distant. I discharged as E-6. "I was an ABF on the flight deck most of those years. May I ask what your rating was? What years years were you in? I was 1975-1986.

I was able to get Rota, Spain when I re-enlisted for my shore duty rotation. Interesting times, experience, and no months at sea...ha. I would do it all again if it were the same Navy I served. Fair Seas, shipmate.

Apologies for the delayed response. I haven’t been on this site for a while. Busy with life. I enlisted in 1978. I Enlisted as an AT. Retired as a Mustang as an LT. Got a degree in Electrical Engineering during my time in. Took many years to accomplish as life in the military is not conducive to spending 4 years in a college classroom.
Retired now. I live in Florida in a retirement community called The Villages. Fantastic place.
Though the summer is brutal. Heat and humidity are off the charts. But, if you don’t hide from it you do get used to it.
