IMO, the myth of Santa Claus is no more damaging than some religions who hold Christmas as a high holy day, and who worship the baby Jesus and his virgin mother.
They aren’t acronyms- they are the initials of the schools she attended which i’m sure as hell won’t post on social media.
Standing up for the God of the Bible and rejecting the gods of this world had never been popular. Characterize it ad you will but I would wonder why someone who claims Christianity would defend a false god and reject the bible.
That is from a fanciful children's poem written by American Clement Clark Moore and first published in America in 1823. It's original title was A Visit from St. Nicholas. It is now considered classic American children's literature and has NO pagan roots.
Actually the character closely resembles the practice of appointing a lord of misrule during Saturnalia observations. Look it up.
It's not a different Spirit—it is the same spirit of loving your neighbor and forgiveness that the scriptures direct us to, explained in very simple terms for toddlers. You seem eager to make others on here less holy than thou; and it ain't working. But since you want to wield scripture, try these on for size:
...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God... —Romans 3:23If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us. —1 john 1:8-19
“Whoever among you is guiltless may be the first to throw a stone.." —John 8:7
Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? —Romans 2:1-4
...exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. —Hebrews 3:13
And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? —Acts 2:8
But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ —Luke 18:13
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. —Isaiah 53:6
For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. —Psalm 51:3
The time will come when your people will sin against you (for there is no one who is sinless!) —1 Kings 8:46
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. —Colossians 3:2
That’s a big of stretch as trying to pretend the reindeer are based on Odin’s horse.
Santa Claus is not pagan, even though the pagans/atheists desperately want to claim him and bury his truth as a church father.
Don’t make this about me. I’m pointing out the bible. The easiest and most used method of the devil is character assassination and accusation of the followers of Christ.
Pagan is a general term for the religious practices of those who do not worship the God of the Bible. Santa is worshipped and sacrificed to by people around the world who neither know or care about God. This is so clearly not biblical that the only way to justify it is to appeal to tradition and feelings. That never ends well.1
Perfectly modeling an unChristian value system apparently already adopted by the DIL.
But hey, not my pony and not my rodeo.
Two objectively false assertions.
And yet, teaching that it is real is still a lie.
“Heat Mizer” is initials? Okaay.
Oh? People sacrifice billions of dollars every year. Say one bad word about Santa Claus or Xmas and his followers practically crucify you. Children are literally taught from birth to revere him. Through him children learn that lying and deception are and can be positive. Greed avarice gluttony and drunkenness are encouraged. Only a powerful Satanic influence could accomplish this level of deception.
This thread is about Spirit, including how some people introduce the Holy Spirit to tiny tots.
Objections to your posts on here appear to take exception to the malign spirit of pride with which you phrase them. Check yourself.
There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:
haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.—Proverbs 6:16-19
People worship and sacrifice to Santa? Around the world?
News to me. Is it the Cargo Cult?
And let me just add that every custom and tradition of Xmas have been recycled from demonic pagan religious rites which ultimately honored Satan and not God.
I didn’t teach it as real, I taught it as literature along with the Brothers Grimm and Aesop’s Fables.
It’s just a fairy tale made up about St. Nicholas, who was real same as Jesus is real. People make up some wild fairy tales about him too.
You have to teach both because kids need both in order to discern fact from fiction as adults. (And because it’s fun. Christians who suck the fun out of childhood deserve the proverbial millstone.)
Very close. Green tree or evergreen trees were where false gods were honored and sacrificed to in order to secure blessings on crops and family. Those practices are replicated today for pretty much the same reasons...to show properity and happiness for intact families.
