“Why your deep hatred of Santa/Saint Nicholas? Did he forget your red rider beebee gun?”

Because I defend the Truth in the Scriptures and refuse fables!
2 Peter 1:16
King James Version
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
1 Timothy 1:4
King James Version
4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
2 Timothy 4:4
King James Version
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Titus 1:14
King James Version
14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
2 Peter 1:16
King James Version
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
Galatians 4:16
King James Version
16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
Amen!!!
So why are you opposed to Truth?
What is wrong with giving gifts and telling children about the birth of Jesus as well as teaching them to be thankful TO JESUS for all that they receive JUST AS THE SCRIPTURES IMPLY. Why attach mythical lies to gift giving?
Why pervert the Gospel by turning the Truth into a lie?
Aren’t the Scriptures alone enough for a “sermon”?
Why such lack of Faith?
“Tell your little girl that Santa is the spirit of giving and Christmas; of course he’s real. He acts within human agents and comes to life over and over again, every year.“
You may want to heed Paul’s warning about differentspirits...he was warning about what you’re advocating.
2 Corinthians 11:4
[4]For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!
The child will always remember it was her grandmother who ruined it. Trust me.
MIL is digging her own grave with this child.
Oh, that man should exalt the Lord Jesus as some do a mythical character. Or even worse, to teach children to give credit to a fable instead of thanks to Jesus.
It’s really amazing that some refuse to see because the religious scales have them blinded.
What is good about creating a holiday to supposedly give thanks to God, and then credit the gratitude to mythology? Thereby effectively replacing the True God with a religious mythical figure?
That is not the God of my Bible. (the King James Bible) in case your wondering.
LOL!!
more to that point...
Galatians 1:8-9
King James Version
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
“Tell your little girl that Santa is the spirit of giving and Christmas; of course he’s real. He acts within human agents and comes to life over and over again, every year.“

So where is Jesus in this reasoning? Or has he become replaced by a mythical deity?
I’m Christian. Don’t lecture me. Check the plank in your eye oh humble one. And didn’t I ask you to leave me alone?
Interjecting with another viewpoint here... It depends on how you say it.
Of course, you're lying if you tell the children, "Santa Claus delivers gifts with his sleigh and flying reindeer," as if that's an undisputed fact.
But, if you begin with, "Well, the story goes that Santa Claus...," you're not lying because that IS the story. If your child says, "That story sounds unbelievable," and you smile and say, "It really does sound unbelievable, doesn't it?", where's the lie?
Or, maybe you never introduce the fairy tale to your children, but they see it everywhere around Christmastime. And you let them believe it because they want to. Because it's fun for them, and they want to be part of it all.
Then, on Christmas morning, you say, "It looks like Santa left gifts for you under the tree." You're not lying because (1) it does look that way and (2) "Santa" does exist. YOU are Santa.
It's like leaving someone a gift anonymously, except it's a game you play with the children. Do it with a wink, or a twinkle in your eye, and it's all done in good fun.
When the children ask if you're Santa, you smile slyly and ask, "Now, why would you think that?" They get the picture.
If other parents don't want to "play Santa," that's fine, too. It's up to the parents.
But, some of you think we're teaching the kids that we're liars. I disagree. I think the children see their parents giving gifts purely from the heart without expecting anything in return.
When the kids grow up, they sometimes give a gift to you and sign it from "Santa." Sometimes, couples give gifts signed "Santa" to each other. It's about the spirit of giving, that's all.
This is easily the best post of this thread.
Thank you for posting this. I agree with this wholeheartedly.
If you’re Christian or claim to be then I’m educating you about the book where we have all understanding of Christ. There is no judgment...just education. Stop responding if you don’t want education.
No, because she didn’t respect their authority as parents.
That’s controlling, narcissistic behavior.
People who presume that they can cross boundaries because of a blood relationship are mistaken. If MIL had an issue with the Santa thing, she should have taken it to the adults to discuss. The fact that she didn’t speaks volumes.
Their house, their rules.
Exactly. Respect their boundaries.
A little over dramatic aren’t you?
It’s harmless. Name one person who’s life was destroyed finding out Santa wasn’t real.
In our house, Jesus was explained just about daily. But the children still had to cope with the culture's promotion of Santa, their Grandmothers' big family gatherings and references to Santa, and our many nieces and nephews whose parents (our siblings) would have been angry for their kids to hear the "facts" from us or our kids.
Therefore I was fine with the "Spirit" explanation. Truly, we can all be guided by Spirit to give and share and show more love; at Christmas, more people may be receptive.
It takes awhile for a toddler to understand a God they cannot see; but you can add more understanding every year when this dilemma comes around, as well as in between. In due time, we made the correlation to the Holy Spirit, one of the Three Persons of the Trinity. And there is also the true story of the real Saint Nicolas, from whom our culture's distorted version was begun.
The familiar red-suited American Santa figure was developed by a series of advertisiing illustrators over the past century. The Santa figure has a variety of names, physical appearances, costumes and different sidekicks in the various cultures of Europe.
When mine was about the same age, he noticed that all the many Santa figures in the large city where we lived looked different -- shorter, taller, long nylon beard, shorter natural beard, flannel with fake fur, velvet with real fur, etc.
That is when I began saying that the real Santa is “The Spirit of Christmas”, and that he has lots of helpers who dress up like him to spread joy and happiness to so many children.
We focused our celebrations on our nuclear family's special Christmas Eve dinner, sometimes with a few guests, reading the Bible story of Christ's birth, Christmas Eve church service, Christmas morning family gifts and lavish brunch. On Christmas Day afternoon and evening, the grandmothers competed to outdo each other with the big extended family hooplas.
God blessed her with such a parent as you.
