She served as governor after her husband, Governor James Ferguson was kicked out of office, despite the fact he was popular.
Ma Ferguson was just governor in name only. Everyone knew that and accepted that. Her husband was in fact acting as governor. She served two separate terms.
IF (big if) MObama runs, it also will be understood that she also will be a figurehead. That Barry will really be the one running the show.
