President Joe Biden is underperforming among nonwhite voters in New York Times/Siena College national polls over the last year, helping to keep the race close in a hypothetical rematch against former President Donald Trump.
On average, Biden leads Trump by just 53% to 28% among registered nonwhite voters in a compilation of Times/Siena polls from 2022 and 2023, which includes over 1,500 nonwhite respondents.
The results represent a marked deterioration in Biden’s support compared with 2020, when he won more than 70% of nonwhite voters. If he’s unable to revitalize this support by November 2024, it will continue a decadelong trend of declining Democratic strength among voters considered to be the foundation of the party.
Biden’s tepid support among these voters appears to be mostly responsible for the close race in early national surveys, which show Biden and Trump all but tied among registered voters even as Biden runs as well among white voters as he did four years ago.
With more than a year to go until the election, there’s plenty of time for Biden to reenergize his former supporters. Indeed, the Times/Siena data suggests Biden could approach — though not match — his 2020 standing simply by reclaiming voters who say they backed him in the last election.
But the possibility that his standing will remain beneath the already depressed levels of the last presidential election should not be discounted. Democrats have lost ground among nonwhite voters in almost every election over the last decade, even as racially charged fights over everything from a border wall to kneeling during the national anthem might have been expected to produce the exact opposite result. Weak support for Biden could easily manifest itself as low turnout — as it did in 2022 — even if many young and less engaged ...

Hell, they're entirely the reason he's president today. Joe Biden did nothing of note in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada in 2020. Black votes in South Carolina bailed out his sorry primary campaign.

If they don’t support Biden they ain’t BLACK!
People will say they can just cheat, anyway - and that’s true. But mass cheating is much harder to cover when it doesn’t reflect the actual sentiment of the electorate. A lot of people were exasperated with Trump in 2020, so it was easy to make the claim that a Great Silent Majority had risen from the ranks of the non-voting to drive him from office. In 2024, the claim that a similar majority will sweep Beloved Biden into a second term is going to be a lot harder to shove down the throats of the Internet media, including those Black and Hispanic voices who are starting to pay attention. They might not take being told by the government-media complex to sit down and shut up quite as calmly as white middle class Republicans did after the 2020 election.
“Consistent Signs of Erosion in Black and Hispanic Support for Biden”
one reason nate silver is freaking out ...
Yes, 90% will vote for Joe. But as enthusiasm drops, their willingness to actually vote goes down too.
Wandering blacks will see the light and come streaming back to the plantation as soon as Big Mike is inserted into the race, and millions of slack-jawed daytime TV zombies will join them.
“It’s a story book, man!”
Who needs votes when the black majority precincts are being run by people who have a history of being unable to accurately count the votes in a timely fashion?
Not to fear, VOTER FRAUD will completely erase any Erosion in Black and Hispanic Support for Biden. Also, and in TOTAL DEFIANCE to normal statistical analysis, Independents and the Undecided will turn 100% to Biden at the last minute.
Joey will get 91 Million Votes.
I think you are right about the black vote. sadly. They are so conditioned that when it comes to actually pulling the lever, few will be able to rebel and do it for Trump. The Hispanic vote is different and far more amenable to change, so there’s that to look forward to.
Might be a tough sale...
Ever notice how liberal women age...badly?
“But as enthusiasm drops, their willingness to actually vote goes down too.”
That is where ballot harvesting comes in.
“Here is a $20 dollar bill, I’ll take your ballot, mark it and drop it off at the polls for you. Thanks for voting, you are a great American.”
Sometimes more, sometimes less.
Does erosion for Biden mean support for some other radical Dem?
Most likely...................
Liberal women age badly because the ugliness eventually manifests itself on the outside. I truly believe that.
That guy with the purse looks like he’s adjusting his junk. 😧
Doesn’t matter.
First of all, I don’t believe it. I’ve seen this same *&$#@ for the last several election cycles. It never pans out.
Secondly, a very large portion of blacks live in democrat run, urban district WHERE the ballots matter, not the votes.
Subhead:
Biden continues to have strong support among key demographics Fake People and Dead People.
