Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine
ORYX ^ | Since February 24, 2022 and daily | ORYX

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

“The US will send Ukraine armor-piercing munitions containing depleted uranium”

That sounds like ammo for tank on tank fighting - maneuver warfare.

That is the kind of ammo (APFDS) that the main gun on the M-1 Abrams was made for.

Only the Russians are saying that. Of course, you choose to believe them because it fits your view of American politics. The non-Russians who have had to deal with the Russians for centuries (mainly other Eastern-Europeans) know that chronic lying has been a national sport in Russia since time immemorial.

PIF...Your post, once again, contains very interesting information. Thanks!

Section 3 is almost unbelievable. Certainly worth re-reading (several times).

Some quotes from section 3:

The sheer scale of the strike would suggest that Ukrainians established a large-scale production of assault drones inside Russia, created launch pads, and a complicated system of surveillance and coordination, which, as they concluded, would be simply impossible to hide from the Russian Federal Security Services.

Unfortunately for Russians, this is exactly what happened.

Here's a picture of the drone that was used:

...However, today, it was reported that those 5 aircraft that were previously invisible highly likely received some damage as well, increasing the number of damaged aircraft from 4 to 9.

So, possibly the scorecard reads: 2 aircraft destroyed, 7 aircraft damaged.

What I find hilarious is the FRruzzians that call the attack a "pin prick."

...What this means is that Ukrainians did not just launch drones based on some information, but based on real-time intelligence that they were receiving via a flying drone.

"Real-time intelligence" would indicate the launch occurred near the airfield.

...And even if we just take the last month, August, based only on the confirmed destruction of Russian equipment from videos that happened on the territory of the Russian Federation, Ukrainians destroyed 1.2 billion dollars worth of equipment, which is a substantial proportion of the Russian annual military budget, and is incomparable to how little Ukrainians spent on cheap Chinese drones and lately paper planes with explosives for these strikes.

$1.2 billion.

Apologies for shouting.

SpaceX
Booster 9 test fire was so successful that they are leaving it on the pad. Ship 25 is being readied for mating - now has marking and logo decals. Ship 31 being built.

Next full StarShip launch awaiting FAA approval.

They use a manual suction device to test if Ship heat tiles are properly glued. Lose tile comes off and is re-glued.

One shipping container or truckload of those Australian foam board drones could support a big wave attack within Russia.

Ukrainians can almost all blend in easily within Russia, to infiltrate drone operators.

Peter Zeihan (on YouTube) observed that Strategic Airlift, and other Air assets as well, are probably necessary to keep the empire of the Russian Federation itself together.

The USA plans to supply Ukraine with AMRAAM aircraft missiles with a range of 160-180 kilometers, which are capable of hitting Russian aircraft without entering the air defense zone. This was announced by the speaker of the AFU Air Force, Yuriy Ignat.

Certainly these Aim-120s are not A/B variant.

These could be used in NASAMs as well as F-16s.

Do you know the story (true or not?) of US letting the Soviets steal Space Shuttle designs that were purposely sabotaged? Including heat shield designs.

This seems like the bottom line in the recent oil price increases - Saudi production cuts. Russia getting around price caps is perhaps another issue, but these market conditions help them.

Saudi Arabia Reaps The Benefits Of Steepening Backwardation
(Current spot prices higher than futures contracts - $2 a barrel)

By Gerald Jansen - Aug 31, 2023 (https://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/Saudi-Arabia-Reaps-The-Benefits-Of-Steepening-Backwardation.html )

“the key factor in the price rally of July-August, namely Saudi Arabia’s voluntary production cuts...

...Saudi Arabia’s production cuts are gradually moving into their third month of existence, lowering total crude exports out of the country below 6 million b/d, the lowest pace of outflows since the spring of 2021. By drastically cutting the supply of medium sour crude globally and lifting ICE Brent to $85 per barrel, Saudi Aramco has achieved the seemingly unthinkable – in a market where everyone was looking at Chinese demand weakness, the supply-side tightness became the key talking point...

...the relatively high prices of Saudi barrels allow Riyadh to reach its fiscal breakeven of $80-81 per barrel.”

Ukraine says it has identified a Russian commander accused of Bucha atrocities
(https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/ukraine-says-it-has-identified-a-russian-commander-accused-of-bucha-atrocities/ar-AA1g85t5 )

““The Security Service has established the identity of another Russian occupier who is involved in mass murders of civilians during the occupation of Kyiv region. The perpetrator is Senior Lieutenant Vadym Ovchinnikov, the commander of the reconnaissance platoon of the 37th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 36th Combined Arms Army of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Federation,” the SBU said in the statement.

The SBU alleges Ovchinnikov “took direct part in the capture of the villages of Severynivka, Motyzhyn, and Kopyliv of the Bucha district”...

...Bucha, a town northwest of Kyiv, was occupied by Russian troops shortly after the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. According to the Ukrainian prosecutor general’s office, the Russian army committed thousands of war crimes in the Bucha district, and hundreds of people (civilians) were killed in the town of Bucha alone before it was liberated in March 2022.

The Ukrainian intelligence (SBU) developed drones made up primarily by cardboards.

According to the source those drones have been used for an attack against a Russian airfield in Kursk, where four SU-30 and one MiG-29 were damaged. In addition, a S-300 and two Pantsir were targeted as well.

https://twitter.com/Tendar/status/1698013456400515359

Although this video was posted a couple of days ago, it is worth further analysis.

In the video, the drone is blanked out.

There are 2 explosions, most likely from 2 separate drone attacks.

Each explosion shows pellets impacting the target area.

Most likely, these are tungston pellets, similar to those used in the M30A1 GMLRS Alternate Warhead, pictured below:

The last 10 seconds of the video shows close-ups of the impact damage caused by the pellets.

My guess is these were the drones used on the IL-76s.

The pellets penetrated the wings of the IL-76s. The aircraft that were refueled leaked, which fed the fire that destroyed the aircraft.

The aircraft that were not refueled sustained damage but were not destroyed.

Sources say that the others cannot be repaired. The SBU confirmed that the cardboard drones were used by a covert group inside Russia

More attacks will likely follow

Drone strikes on Russian soil will increase - senior Ukraine official

“Ukraine had ramped up its strikes on occupied areas, and attacks inside Russia itself would also increase, carried out by “agents” or “partisans”, (Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo) Podolyak said.

“As for Russia ... there is an increasing number of attacks by unidentified drones launched from the territory of the Russian Federation, and the number of these attacks will increase,” Podolyak told Reuters.

“Because this is the stage of the war… when hostilities are gradually being transferred to the territory of the Russian Federation,””

1.2 billion dollars worth of equipment, which is a substantial proportion of the Russian annual military budget

Even without combat losses, war is hell on equipment. Decades of war in the middle east (with minimal combat losses) wreaked havoc on our equipment, be it air, ground or naval. On top of that, each loss means Russia's remaining equipment must work at a higher operational tempo. It wears out faster, requires more maintenance and suffers non-combat attrition at a higher rate. The readiness rate of remaining equipment falls. Sanctions add to this effect.

In some ways, war has the same effect on men.

The first F-16s have already flown over Ukraine

Intelligence reports that Ukraine deployed F-16 fighter jets for its anti-missile defense in late August.

At the same time, at least two flights are known, when the planes took off from the airfields of NATO countries and entered the airspace of Ukraine during missile attacks.

They were operated by Ukrainian pilots.

In principle, everything is as we predicted - Ukraine receives weapons and equipment faster than it is announced.

At the same time, over the past few days, about a dozen experienced pilots have died under mysterious circumstances in Ukraine.

After that, the enemy strengthened the protection of air facilities and flight safety in general.

It is obvious that while the use of the F-16 will not be massive, but their appearance in itself will expand the capabilities of the Ukrainian side.

And let us immediately recall that back in May we wrote that the planes would arrive much earlier than they say.

At the same time, we announced that Ukraine would receive not only the F-16, but also a number of other modern models.

And so it happened.
